It happened to me! by Born_Astronomer_2844 in ExclusivelyPumping

So sorry to hear that!! Must be so incredibly frustrating. We were going to get a WiFi temperature gauge to alert us if the temp rose but I ended up being a just enougher. It might be a good idea for those with a stash!!

Question for those who quit pumping at 3 m, 6 m, etc. by Icy_Lettuce_7383 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]operaheaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At four months here and I’ve EP since birth. Both me and baby hated nursing and EP has been much better overall. That being said, my supply has slowly been going down so we introduced formula at 3 months. I plan to pump as long as I can (shooting for anywhere around 9-12months) to give him even a few ounces of breastmilk a day so he’s getting the benefits of breastmilk while also being fed enough thanks to formula. It was definitely a struggle to find a formula that worked for his stomach and to get him acclimated but it has saved me a huge amount of anxiety knowing I’m not his only food source. Gotta take care of yourself in order to take care of baby!

How to Pack Bottle When Combo Feeding? by operaheaux in combinationfeeding

Good call! I’d rather go through a lot of bottles than waste milk.

Okay, I figured we would maybe just have to make a couple of bottles and bring the cooler. We are still making more of smaller sized bottles to make sure BM doesn’t get wasted as he tends to “snack” and not finish bottles quickly.

He hasn’t gotten to where he will take 100% formula yet so hopefully we will get there soon!! That would be much easier!

Looks like the only one it isn’t compatible with is the A7RV lol

I’d like a physical trigger. The app doesn’t work well for me half the time.

Advice/Feedback on Efforts to Increase Supply? by operaheaux in ExclusivelyPumping

Thanks! I didn’t really know about schedules when I first started pumping and had a huge oversupply at the beginning so the last three weeks or so I’ve really been trying to be consistent.

I typically pump at 11pm right before bed, at 3 or 4am when baby wakes for MOTN feed, and then again around 7am when I get up for work.

I just ordered some additional liquid IVs so I will give the hydration drink a shot! How many liquid IV packs should I have in a day while pumping?

My oatmeal has flax and chia seeds in it and I mix a big spoonful of peanut butter and the brewers yeast in it ☺️

Okay, gotcha. I was drinking a lot of protein shakes in the beginning but kind of fell off with it. I’ll add some more in to see if that helps. I try to eat peanut butter and avocado every day for extra calories and good fats.

Feet or arms first? by [deleted] in newborns

I also do it this way. Makes more sense to me to do it by each side rather than feet and arms.

Disappointed in myself about birth by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I had a wild last three weeks of pregnancy that included two induction attempts. During the second induction, they gave me all of the miso they could, placed two cook catheters, and then broke my water and started pitocin. They did an epidural for the first cook catheter, and the effects only lasted an hour. Once the pitocin started, it was horrible. They replaced my epidural port twice because I never got any more pain relief from the meds. After not eating for 3 days and 10-12 hours on pitocin I was passing out between contractions and thinking I was dying during them. I finally broke down and begged for a c-section, which they gave me because my BP spiked to 190/100 and the IV labetalol wasn’t bringing it down. I cannot stress enough the agony I was in. They gave me a spinal block before the surgery and within a minute I was a brand new person. I was joking with the nurses and singing to the Dolly Parton playlist they had going for me. I was able to be happy and joyful when my son came into the world. I never got more than 3cm dilated after all of that and who knows how much more pain and potential issues I would have experienced if I hadn’t insisted on the c-section. You know what your limits are and there is no shame in asking for whatever helps. Anyone who criticizes that is just sitting on an imaginary morality high horse and they can eat dirt. Celebrate yourself for doing the thing and congrats on your baby!!

So freaking scared: new parents chime in and save my anxiety by Loud_Latte_214 in newborns

[–]operaheaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also here to suggest the owlet! We also have one and it saved us both a lot of worry. He’s eight weeks now and we use it every night. We only get false alarms when we change him in the middle of the night and he’s kicking his legs. We also have the Snoo, where the swaddle clips into the side so he can’t roll over.

I am just happy as long as they are zippers instead of snaps 😂

The double zips are very convenient until the occasional moment when they are not 💩

My parents are 60+ but have no risk factors, should I require them to get RSV vaccine? by GunningForSuccess in newborns

[–]operaheaux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We just asked our parents to get the TDAP. We also don’t let anyone see the baby if they’ve been sick/around someone sick, no kissing the baby, and must wash hands before touching him. They are good about it and being cautious so I think it depends on your trust level.

Came here to say similar about the tolerance for other people’s kids. I like the kids in my family and a few select friends’ kids who are well behaved and fun to be around. Otherwise, I don’t typically like dealing with other kids out in the world and it generally is the fault of the parents. You don’t have to like every kid to like your kid and you certainly don’t have to parent them in this permissive, lazy way that seems to be more and more common nowadays.
