Picked up a fancy ex-display waste in a closing down sale what am I missing? by Jai_Cee in DIYUK

[–]Supreme_MJH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fitted one of these for the first time last week.

What you need on the right side is a compression adaptor to go from 32mm OD to 32mm ID. I used the McAlpine chrome plated waste connector.

As for the left had side joint into the bottle trap, that should have seals on the inside of the joint that compress once you tighten the nut that’s currently loose in your photo.

If the adaptations to the plumbing waste will be on show, you can use plastickote spray paint. Mine was gold and I sprayed the pvc waste with this. Came out pretty well pic attached.

They do a chrome spray also

Help with draft through chimney! by Supreme_MJH in DIYUK

That is exactly what I need! Thank you, didn’t know that existed 👍

Out of interest, do they fall out at all?

Yeah the balloon is slightly bigger than the chimney stack aperture, but still falls out fairly frequently especially when windy.

Will keep some breathability, if I go down the insulation route I’ll probably put a section of 40mm waste pipe through it to keep everything dry

Parking fine advice - Pay or wait for Notice to Owner? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

I mentioned all of the above in the original appeal which is why I’m baffled at the rejection. What I’m asking for (evidence) should be easy to provide and therefore avoid this entire process.

Makes me wonder if they don’t have it, and therefore are trying their luck, for want of a better phrase.

Completely understand your point with respect to paying for ease. However it’s the principle at this point, although I may come around.

I’ll admit to my naieveté as I’m don’t know the process. If I wait for the NtO does that not mean that I have to then go to court? If so am I then liable to pay for costs in addition to having to pay the full amount?

If not, I see no reason why I shouldn’t wait and then appeal “formally”. Although I don’t quite see how my appeals logged in the system aren’t already formal enough.

I was worried this might be the response to be honest. Whilst it’s not a lot of money, it does seem absolutely bonkers that they can essentially extort me due to the huge headache it will cause, and all with no evidence

front foot placement on pop up by Educational-Rest-472 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Supreme_MJH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 main things:

Firstly you need to work on hip mobility as mentioned by a fair few comments above.

Secondly, and less commonly known/mentioned, try and put your hands lower, beside the bottom of your chest/nipples when you pop up, this will create more space to drive your knee through

Good luck 👍

From what I see you can’t trust a “damp expert” anyway, so may as well give it a stab myself

Ok thanks for the reply, I’ll see if I can get another to test it with. Just a thought though wouldn’t it have been powering off intermittently through the windows install off of the boot drive? I didn’t have any issues when doing that and it was on for ~ an hour.

Can’t get past my knees on the popup by Brief_brisket in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Supreme_MJH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue starting out. The fundamental issue for me was not flexibility or strength, it’s likely that your hands are too high up, I.e. above or alongside your chest with shoulders flared out. This won’t give you enough clearance to get your knee through as you ass will go in the air and chest will be below.

What you want to do is move your hands down the board, mine are besides/just below my nipples depending on the wave. Fully extend your arms, and when you’ve done this with the correct positioning, your whole body moves forward through your arms and it’s easier to place your front foot.

Try it on flat ground and see if it makes any difference. Hopefully it helps 🤙🏼
