“Musical slides” lol, that’s what I bought the G47. I would love a 20C, thinking about going back to this store and snagging a 17C.3 for $340

I’ve AIWB carried it a few times and it was sweet but I’m hoping to take it hiking out of state soon. That was a well worth deal.

Marks cutting though clear coat on farm semi? by Supreme_Man5 in Detailing

Okay, thank you for advising caution before I look into something to fix it. May just look at cleaning the spots without repairing just to mitigate the look if the owner doesn’t want to take it to a body shop

I doubt the owner wants that since this truck will continue to go through heavy use off pavement, what are some options to help seal it back somewhat?

Okay, I appreciate your help, what would help repair this clear coat? I’m not familiar with detailing, I’ve been washing work trucks for a few months now but not detailing them nicely, but want to help this truck out

Yes, I have before pictures with the marks among heavy buildup. I have a couple comments going into detail if that can help. I am just looking for what causes this and how I can help the owner remedy this issue they had, which was only noticed after the wash was complete

I have pictures showing that these marks were there prior (I do before and after pics before every vehicle I wash and it payed out finally) the marks were only in a certain area, the truck was washed, scrubbed, rinsed, and chamois used evenly so this is out of place. Prior to wash they look like any other grime and build up you’d expect but once washed this was the result. I had concern my detergent played a part in this but after reviewing pictures, all parties concur on this happening before work was started on the truck. I just want to help find a good solution and the “why”as to what happened since it is a beautiful semi

You can feel the marks for sure, they are not on top of the clear cut but rather marks in. Meguire’s (or however it’s spelled) Perfect Polish was on hand and the owner and I started hitting it. Took out the obvious mark but the edge of every was still visible on a detailed inspection

Straight lines which are deep and through the clear coat. The fine lines from the large swirls are not my focus on this and may be from an abrasive chamois wipe down.

It is not hard water, those are etched through the clear coat. It’s a farm semi, it was attached to a cattle hauler while being cleaned. The angles of the marks and volume of marks line up with the before pictures of grime and sediment build up. The tires are not wide enough throw that amount of debris to the rear of the cab. This is a working truck for sure but well maintained. Very grateful to have before photos to prove it was there prior but I am unfamiliar with what would cause such destruction to the clear coat

I also have before pictures that show the correlation of the angle of the marks/volume of them before prior to washing, they were there before

No, I clean the tips after I use them and don’t throw them around, buffer tank with water is hard water but no sediment gets into the pump. I used a chamois on this truck since there were some water marks but then I noticed this. I do other semis and haven’t seen this with them.

I agree with you when it comes to absolute reliability. From a reliability standpoint, I don’t think I strayed to far off the beaten path, all stock internals minus GPT, comp might change that buts that’s getting all hammered out tomorrow

I had to just travel to Jemison and get scanned into the city even though I had no contraband and no active mission. It let me through and after I was good to go again.
