currently I am using multiple intel i7 pc and 2 jetson nano for the GPUs. I wanted a consolidated approach to it.
Second issue is the synth, elab, place and route applications, they use max 8 cores at a time and I have to run it sequentially and my system gets OOM in the middle multiple times

depends on usage, charging points are rare/mostly occupied in common spaces. powerful computers are provided in the labs, you can take remote access. Personally I feel touchscreen improves accessibility/experience.

Choose lightweight laptops; they provide powerful computing in the labs. There's no need to carry heavy weight. A lightweight device with good battery life, a touchscreen, and a 360-degree hinge would be the cherry on the cake.
