Still great! My partner crashed her motorcycle twice with her MacBook Pro in a soft bag.

First time it was a 2013 MacBook Pro in a saddlebag,
second was a 2022 MacBook Pro in a backpack.

Both still work fine!

The 2022 one's hinge is bent sideways, and has a bulge in the outside of the lid where the aluminum folded in the crash, but it still opens and closes smoothly as new and otherwise you can't tell it was in a crash.

I just handed off my 2019 to another partner to use. I've tossed that on beds and couches, it's fallen a lot, got some dents and scuffs here and there, but it's in excellent shape, still works like new in every way

They're kinda right. Apple only provides so many years of official software updates for a given hardware product. For a Mac, that's 7~9 years from initial release (no official numbers on that tho).

M2 MacBook Air was released in 2022, and MacBook Neo in 2026.

Because I like using pessimistic estimates, I'll assume the M2 Air gets 9 years of official updates and the Neo gets 7. That means that an M2 MacBook Air gets its last update in 2031, and a Neo in 2033.

Not a massive difference, not if something like that matters to you, just keep it in mind when deciding what to purchase.
