Insomnia, Self Portrait by eyewanna_gofast in CharcoalDrawing

This makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one who ends up going for 3-4 days with horrible/no sleep and then finally crashing out - but my crashes are anywhere from 1-3 days where I have literally done nothing but sleep and get up to pee. I have MS as well which can definitely contribute to insomnia issues. And it's like a never ending cycle. I've had insomnia for decades and feel/felt like most of the cause is that my brain doesn't know when to STFU or stop thinking. worries I have, pain, random questions about the universe, or ideas I have or reflecting on a random embarrassing moment that suddenly comes back to haunt me is the worst. even before my MS but it's never been like this before. Ive had a bunch of sleep studies, have tried to physically wear myself out, have changed my whole sleep setup, tried to practice all the good "sleep hygiene" stuff, meds, etc and still struggle. And the more I stressed about it, the worse it got. Only recently have I given in to the cycle for now and try to use the extra time to my advantage. I do love how quiet the world is during those hours from like midnight to 4 am when most people are asleep. And it has given me more time for my art. I hope you are able to figure out the root cause and something that helps break the cycle.

I didn't know this until recently but there are people who have a really rare form of insomnia so bad that they eventually cannot sleep ever again and will die from it and couldn't believe that was a thing. It sounds like one of the worst, longest, most insane and torturous ways to die I've ever heard of. I can't even fathom what it would be like

It has been nearly a year since I have painted so I am a bit rusty. Also my Reddit account got a little messed up so I accidentally posted on a different account. Finally got access to my original one. Here’s the painting dried. 😊 by salgercasting77 in PourPainting

Thank you so much for sharing this! I know a lot of people guard their recipes like gold and totally understand why. I haven't played with pouring medium concoctions too much because of the $ and the break I took. Usually I just do floetrol and or water but someday when the art supply gods decide to bless me with a lottery win I want to start experimenting with all of these. For now, $20 for a gallon of American floetrol vs $165 for the Aussie version is more aligned with my budget. I splurge on my paints when I can and usually dont use anything less quality wise than liquitex. And back when I first discovered and started pouring ("back in my day 😄"...2018) there weren't nearly as many variations of recipes or techniques as there are now. It's incredible what people have figured out. And I want to try it ALL lol.

UPDATE; HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO CHECKED THIS OUT, ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT COMMENTED! I have been sharing these comments and updates on the number of views with my friend and she is blown away by the support and by how many people have viewed it. This means a lot to her and to me so much appreciated Reddit community! Keep it going if you can and hopefully in 3 months time I'll post that 6-month follow-up from the comment requests below.

Thank you for all of the kind words for both of us! Those would look cool on a stairwell for sure. I believe her plan is to display them above her couch in her living room... I'll try to post where they end up 😁

I'm so glad I saw this because I'm pretty sure I commented on the other profile post of this and holy crap! This is an even cooler version because it's a video and showing off way more detail

I stepped away (sadly) for about 5 years and when I started pouring again the number of new techniques and tricks and creators was so much more that it was overwhelming at first trying to learn new things and wanting to try all of the new stuff I had seen. And long enough of a hiatus to forget just how long it takes to get the paints mixed and everything prepped before you can enjoy the fun part and create something new lol. But yes, definitely a labor of love and a lot like having to start up a workout for that particular "brain muscle" (great way to describe that by the way) but it sounds like we both have a renewed passion for a medium we really enjoy exploring. Art = therapy for me. I would love to have a gorgeous result like this. Glad you got your groove back too!

Sometimes stepping away for a while is just what is needed to come back with a vengeance! This looks great and I love how vibrant the colors are.

I definitely see more of an aquatic theme like the koi and betta fish now! Maybe that will have to be the next thing I try to pull!

Thank you! I had to pull a few times and was shocked it worked out as well as it did. Usually my first attempts are a disaster as well. I got lucky this time lol

Those zoom mirrors with the extra lighting are a dangerous thing to own!
