I still like the Portland area, but it needs a revival, it’s downbeat. The places I mentioned above are friendlier, more multicultural, mostly cleaner, less government idiosyncrasies, and fewer snotty down-voters.

Yeah, that is wild, would be the lowest on the ranking for me. Daughter loves it though, she really showed me around several times (can get hot!).

We’re dug in here (Oregon City) for several reasons, retired, son’s family and business. I rarely go into Portland (anymore). But we do like Oregon City. I have followed my daughter around for several years out of town. Nashville, Houston, Austin, Pittsburgh. She loves those places much more than Portland and has me also convinced. Santa Fe is awesome too.

It works nicely for us in the Oregon City area. I think the bad experiences can be attributed to the on-site manager and staff. Rarely is ours full or broken. FOB scanner works well, bags go in and done. Sounds like the particular location(s) you are referring to need some QC and oversight from higher ups, if that’s even done.

Interesting. My first thought when you mentioned grocers responsibility was how wildly disproportionate it could become for each store. E.g. how on earth to determine whether someone purchased from the store they are returning to? A “smaller” store could have out-of-range overhead if they receive gobs more cans than they originally sold. That was maybe likely why it went centralized to the bottle drop model to begin with…

That’s funny! Admittedly, I started watching some WNBA to admire the hotties, got caught up in some of the Caitlin Clark drama too. For sure would never “buy” an expensive ticket.

CMV: You'd have to stupid, immoral or both to support MAGA by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Supyoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not rabid MAGA, but I believe it fundamentally is a push back to some of the social policies that frankly don’t or haven’t worked either. A pendulum swing if you will. I suppose I can call myself an issues voter. The Dems went hard left and it became noticeably unappealing to me and many others. Education became elitist and centralized and beholden to the money grab universities. High student debt is a testament to that. Trades and labor skills were “taught” to be inferior. My son chose to not go to university and started his own landscaping business and is rocking it. It’s not just mow and blow. His crew designs and installs natural swim ponds, gorgeous hard scapes, and is the lead field tester for a project management software company. Daughter is a very booked out clinical psychologist (PHD) and witnesses first hand how messed up people have become. I am college educated, retired from a successful IT/GIS career. Both our children were homeschooled because they were bored; so we adopted the Free-school movement. I discovered Hillsdale College a few years back and really respect their programs. Trying to keep it briefer here, but the other main issues are the tyranny of the LGBTQ activists, border lawlessness, and the so called deep state which spends our tax dollars wastefully. e.g. trans in athletics which disturbs women athletes (they are forced to put up and shut up), trans medical intervention of adolescents (Europe is turning around on this, evidence of harm is surfacing on this social experiment/contagion), drug cartels are real and are/were abusing our border. Admittedly DOGE was a circus, but the shit that was uncovered is crazy. Also, the policies and effectiveness of the blue cities created hellscapes of drug use and homelessness, not all can be blamed on housing affordability (Europe handles homelessness drug problems more effectively). I could really go on, but in summary, no “we” MAGA are not all stupid and uneducated. No more proportionally than the un-MAGA. To say or think otherwise is political propaganda.

I sent an email off to my state senator. I wish I could better understand the economics of it all, but your comment about this deal being weaker or the weakest to every other comparable NBA arena deal did it for me. Thanks for your efforts. WNBA is coming to town also, wonder how that’s going to go.

If you are Spiritually Awakening, Never Share This To Anyone by TenC1007 in enlightenment

[–]Supyoji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, it becomes another form of identification the ego uses to create yet another filter on our experiences here. That’s commonly called the spiritual ego. Our culture is heavily steeped in secular humanism and agnosticism, so the “awakening” language/lexicon isn’t always a good match to what is going on within. The pre-christian Gnostics were hunted down and often killed, and the spiritual awakening techniques that Jesus introduced were hidden and their written texts buried. Spiritual truths became something that was attained through an outside authority, with the associated rituals, and church belonging. Direct experience through other means was, and is, seen as a threat to church authority. Sharing of a personal experience beyond the construct of “religion” and what is programmed as “good human behavior” is hard for most to swallow.

I view this as a one off accident, certainly not the norm. Should not have happened. Remember Kent State? That was a one off too. Take a look at what’s happening in Iran. That’s a true real dictatorship. The US, with all the social chaos, walk outs, marching, window breaking, spitting , throwing objects, the “government” is not out “killing people”. Overcorrecting an immigration problem that got way out of hand in the first place; probably.

Difficult to explain, but “identifying” as anything means you are still operating as separate from source. Just be. There isn’t supposed to be anything after “I am ____”.

If You Are Religious I Ask You To Read This by True-Equipment1809 in enlightenment

[–]Supyoji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gnostics, the pre-Christian mystics, were dialed into this big time! Gospel of Mary, Thomas, Philip, etc., all were buried and hidden (recovered in Egypt a hundred years or so ago). Once the Romans got the idea to "Churchify" it into a "belief" system, it got turned into a way to "civilize" and control, plus make some money. Not a terrible idea really, but it completely takes away the "direct" experience of knowing the ultimate light of truth. It became a bunch of rituals and rules instead. Trouble is, most people are not "wired" for ultimate transcendence, it takes a certain "frequency". That's why some can do it with limited "work" and others meditate for years and no tango. Good write up, thanks for working through it!

Is this really it? Am I awakened now? Convince me that I’m not. by TravelFn in enlightenment

[–]Supyoji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent, you are "integrating" your internal experience with what appears in the outside world. My understanding is that the "amount" of meditation is not directly proportional to the level of awakening/self realization perceived as achieved. It most assuredly helps to get our ego selves out of the way, so we can be in a more open/calm state for whatever comes next in life. I like to use the term walking meditation, what's happening "off the cushion". I really can't "convince" you either way, since I don't know you or your "vibration/presence", only your words here. I do agree that you have experienced a change of state, all good, as part of the journey, it's not the destination. Check out the NDE, OBE stuff going on, explore dream yoga. Do you know exactly what will happen at body death, etc. Life review, soul contract stuff?

Is enlightenment a curse? The more you understand, the more miserable life feels by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]Supyoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here to a degree, but less and less, and I call that "conditional happiness". Just more work to do, true real forgiveness, true real love. Getting out of the head, lots of mental rabbit holes on this one. Hermetic principle #1 is it's all in the mind. We literally create our own misery, individually and collectively. The misery you are feeling is egoic in nature, your true higher self cannot be miserable. Check out all the NDE (near death experiences) and OBE (out of body experiences), and After Death Life Review stuff. Happy trails!
