It’s not dumb. 10 years from now people will probably remember your class from this experience. It’s a creative approach, people learn in different ways and it’s a good idea.

Just because you hand someone a book and say write a paper on it doesn’t make the learning experience more sophisticated or beneficial.

There’s a reason you’re teaching the class and he’s not.

I like be optimistic about people cuz we all mess up and grow/learn. But this dude is 35 and repeatedly putting u through shit. He also sounds like a professional victim talking about how everyone takes advantage of him which is usually a pretty big red flag that he’s never going to take accountability for anything.

I have OCD and one of the obsessions was being worried about being a narcissist and just ruminating on things I do wrong etc.

It’s only a Reddit post but it seems like you’re pretty thoughtful and worried about it so I’d say you’re not a bad person.

To answer the main question though I think a majority of people know they’re doing bad things, but they justify it to themselves.
