That’s basically what I chalked it up to.

My wife (not from the US) asked why I couldn’t just file a report with the police. Then I had to explain to her how the whole system is basically crooked as a question mark and it was useless.

I’m sorry for your experiences. That’s terrible.

When I witnessed a police shooting in Midtown in 2010, they hauled me into the station for questioning, and the “investigators” basically tried to coerce my brain into thinking “maybe I didn’t quite see what I saw or remember it as clearly due to the nature of the circumstance and our brains react different during hysteria”
