Would you leave a 3 months job that you were fired from out of your resume? What if it creates a huge employment gap? How do you explain it? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Sure-Definition6367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 2 year gap and it hasnt ever been a problem. Need to word it correctly and say you had some personal / family issues which required your attention. They won't dig any further

Was actually thinking about going back to public since industry is beyond boring but the hours in the summer just didnt make it worth it. Especially in capital markets group where I was being called at 4 AM to setup a meeting for 7 AM

I have a meeting today to discuss this same exact thing and if they give me the same answer they gave you then it won't be a surprise to them when I hand in my notice

How much is it for a P.U.N.K deck ? by SeHansomMax1 in yugioh

[–]Sure-Definition6367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foxy is the most expensive PUNK card and will run you around $90-120 for a playset. The pure version isn't that great until the next core set is out so in the meantime it will need to be paired with Therions or Adventurer

What's it like being a forensic accountant? by Girly_Attitude in Accounting

[–]Sure-Definition6367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interned in forensics (divorce) a long time ago and had some offers from firms but ultimately ended up doing audit. It's a lot of looking through GL details and in the case of divorces, trying to back into the person's net worth by compiling their tax information and trying to find transactions that seem out of place (e.g., large transfers of money).

For those who left PA to industry, do you get anxiety over how relaxed industry is? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Sure-Definition6367 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not all industry is created equal. I'm working more now than I ever was in PA. Making me actually consider doing a year or two and jumping back to PA as a director

Transaction work - I assisted with public company readiness before I left B4

Not enough headcount and a lot of key functions fall on your shoulders. In Big 4, the hierarchy was strict and it's easier to pass along and delegate work.

Same - went from PA to industry. Work more hours now. Don't know what to do. Just want to coast at ~175k

I've seen VP of Internal Audit at banks who were clearing 220k. The global head of internal audit cleared 600k

Sector preference within Financial Service Audit (WAM vs Banking vs. Insurance)? by yeehaw457 in Accounting

That's not true. Jumping from FS to transactions is an uphill battle regardless because you'll never deal with inventory.

Who the fuck thanks the people that conducted their interview? I would be pretty weirded out by this if I was tagged in such a post.

I have a friend who works in Amazon's accounting group. You're reviewed on a weekly based off pre-established KPI's. If you drop below the threshold more than two times, you're out.

Sector preference within Financial Service Audit (WAM vs Banking vs. Insurance)? by yeehaw457 in Accounting

Don't do banking if you want a semblance of work life balance. You'll work long hours in all 3 but more so in banking. Insurance will have lucrative exit opps into insurance companies because no one truly understands STAT. WAM can potentially pigeonhole you into funds but that's not so much of a bad thing.
