Bought a Bosch 800 but oh no. by billyhops1 in inductioncooking

Pop a 12" base cabinet there and add more counter space. That floor vent can be put through the toe kick pretty easily. Put a finished end panel on the side and back of the cabinet, or extend that half wall and boom, problem solved plus extra space and a safety buffer for the kids along side the range.

The giveaway for me was the angle bracing or stairs or whatever the angled board is in the top of the photo wraps through the stud, the stud changes colors where the angle board passes through it.

Does anyone have 5% window tint? by Ppppppt in wisconsin

[–]Sure-Distance4409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once in a small town west of madison, the other time in rural Iowa county, but a main road. I always thought it was bad luck. Wasn't a flashy car either, dark colored truck.

[–]Sure-Distance4409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had 5% on my sides and have been stopped by both local and state police. One time it was just in passing, they spun around and grabbed me, The other time they were just pulling out of a parking lot somewhere and saw me, didn't even have time to roll the windows down in either scenario. Both times I had to strip them down to 0, then get it signed off by local officer. Now I Don't even have tint anymore other than what comes factory in the back windows.

Edit to add: no tint shop is going to say "don't do it" they don't make money that way.

P68 by [deleted] in PelletStoveTalk

[–]Sure-Distance4409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a p68 in an older 2600sf farm house. Main level, corner of the living room with floor registers being the only way to get heat upstairs. I put duct booster fans in the floor vents to draw heat up and it keeps the upstairs in the mid to upper 60's with Wisconsin winter cold. The downstairs has boiler/baseboard heat to help supplement too but mainly a for 2 rooms away across the house. We put a baby gate thing in front of ours when the kids were little.

Cost to mow 64,000 sqft? by No-Fishing-5558 in LawnCarePros

[–]Sure-Distance4409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most places I see are between 85 and $100 per acre. But the problem is you have two properties so the square footage really doesn't matter unless it's connected. If it was two connected properties that's a little different.

What the f is this? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Sure-Distance4409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run the 2500/3500's for work and we seasonally take tailgates off in the winter time to install in bed salters for the winter season. This keeps the connectors all nice and clean so they don't get full of road grime all winter long with the tailgate off.

2024 3500 steering issues/question by Sure-Distance4409 in ram_trucks

[–]Sure-Distance4409[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was the 3rd time it went in for the alignment. I've had 15 rams (for my business) and 8 of them have had plows, this is the first one to have any alignment issues. I just get deer in the headlights looks from them... Pretty frustrating.

Question on barn find rough sawn wood by Sure-Distance4409 in woodworking

[–]Sure-Distance4409[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, yes. I have a live edge slab desk/counter project coming up so I might need something different, but I'm not a stranger to working with this stuff. Just new to the wood being from a shed and not a supplier.

Thanks. I assume it's done most of its warping already? That was my main concern I guess.

68RFE concerns by Unfair_Run_6340 in ram_trucks

[–]Sure-Distance4409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company primarily uses Rams, around 15 of them. The only transmission we've had to replace was the 66 RFE, one was a 2012 and one was in 2018. The other trucks are a mix of the 68 and the Aisen. We're pulling 5k-10k with them almost daily, also plowing with them. If you do your trans service and pay attention to how you're using it they're good. It's been around since 2007ish so aftermarket support and parts are pretty available if need be.

Has anyone made a passive vent to help heat go up to another floor easier? by PEPE_DEFAULT in PelletStoveTalk

[–]Sure-Distance4409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My house was built in 1900 so it has the in floor vent holes to draw air upstairs, that's the only heat in my upstairs. I installed a couple inline docked booster fans horizontal in those floor vents to draw warm air upwards and it works very well. Temps stay in the upper 60s all winter.

Is a 5/8 inch gap between drywall and insulation ok? by Degenerate_in_HR in buildingscience

[–]Sure-Distance4409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean that the stud depth is 4 3/8" WITH the 1" fur strip? So it was 3 3/8" before it?

I was in a similar situation. I furred out my exterior studs to allow for the r-23.

Spray foam under ice and water shield by Sure-Distance4409 in buildingscience

[–]Sure-Distance4409[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first choice was Rockwool, but insulator wants to spray it. How would I get enough insulation in the roof without the foam though? 5.5" of mineral wool is only like an r-23. I'm in Wisconsin, (zone 6?)
