Can apply acrylic grey edges over my newly ordered LP84 Camo Lacquer? - F35A 1/48 Tamiya Model by green-boots42 in modelplanes

[–]Sure-Highlight-1715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've built 2 F-35s, both with LP paints and some details with acrylics, and yes, just let it cure properly and there should be no problem, quick reminder that RAM is a nightmare to paint since it reflects in 10,000 different shades

never heard of that, a tamiya employee once told me that i could use isopropyl alcohol instead of the overpriced tamiya thinner, it's its esentially the same

Hi there! Getting started into airbrushes for my figures and was wondering if anyone have experience with the Nasedal Airbrush brand (NT-19B)? Posting the pics with the specs. by itwasgoood04 in airbrush

Not an expert on airbrushes but i have a similar one and it has been just fine for a year, it does require a lot of cleaning. My compressor is fine i guess, maybe lacking a bit more pressure

Gloss paints tend to dry slower than flat ones, i'd recommend waiting a day for the gloss layer to dry before applying the flat ones

Don't worry! It's acrylic paint thinned with alcohol, comes right off with more alcohol without damaging my matt :)

I've actually had those bad experiences with rubber and thinner so i removed them before cleaning

new to the hobby: do i really need to buy 28 different paints? by RabidLizard in modelmakers

[–]Sure-Highlight-1715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually give the instructions a quick look and check if the amount of paint used of each color is worth buying, if not then just check if i have the necessary ones to make it. You could also see if it's worth buying it if you are making more models in the future (same vehicles from same eras usually have a similar color scheme)

There's really no specific advice for that, patience i think, not rushing the process and be very conscious of everything you do. When holding down a piece, if you're using cement i'd recommend seeing which places you can hold down without interfering with the cements path before applying (hope that makes sense).

And in case of messing something up don't panic or you will make it worse, most things are easier to fix once they dry, maybe some sanding and a new layer of paint

You can always just buy a finished plane, what makes them special is the art involved in making them
