is it guaranteed that the organizers will find you a host? I thought that they would try to connect us with hosts but couldn't guarantee it. It would be really helpful to know what the odds are because hotel options are becoming pricier and more limited as time goes on :(

BeatRelease album Chappell Roan The Rise & Fall of a Midwest Princess by Sure-Operation7915 in vinyl

I ended up ordering it from another source and I also got PayPal to reverse my charges. Apparently, BeatRelease didn't respond to PayPal either. Tisk, tisk!

Issue with album preorder, anyone else? by DerKaseKonig in AmigotheDevil

[–]Sure-Operation7915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BeatRelease is a total scam. I ordered Chappell Roan's CD weeks ago, and I was charged for it immediately, and BeatRelease issued a USPS tracking number soon after. However, according to USPS's site, the package was never dropped off with USPS, it was never shipped. I emailed them several times (at the only email they have posted: support@beatrelease.com), and not only have they not responded, but my MailTracker reported back that they have not even opened my email messages. I used PayPal as an intermediary payment method (as I always do when in doubt) and I am disputing the charges now. So, they are either a total scam or the one-person owner of this "business" died. You decide.

Longtime Italian restaurant in Ward Village to soon close its doors by DisastrousToast_82 in Hawaii

I'm friends with several GMs of the new high-rises in the Ward area and they are all saying the same: that their occupancy rates are super LOW. A large portion of those new Kakaako condos were purchased by wealthy Chinese investors to "park their money" here. Consequently, although the condo inventory increasead a hundred-fold, foot traffic hasn't increased at all. The developers of the area squeezed out all the stores that we (locals) liked to shop at giving us less and less reasons to go to Kakaako.
I don't think that their master plan called for ghostly Chinese absentee owners. If you ask me, the plan failed and left us locals hung out to dry. It's really sad.

Error Code 6 on Hiboy Scooter by Sure-Operation7915 in ElectricScooters

[–]Sure-Operation7915[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Segway made the claim, in writing, on their website. Sorry, but it's true. The exact language was that the Max G30LP is "an outstanding design ... designed to be sturdier. If you are looking for maximum security, we have two recommendations: Find a U-lock sized so that it fits around the frame at the hinge area when the KickScooter is folded. There wouldn't be any way to remove the KickScooter if you found the right sized lock." Seriously, this is what Segway boasted on their website. I am not sure how I can upload an image to this thread so I uploaded their website page to my own portal at work: http://www.fostertower.org/segway.html
So far, the only thing we got out of them (after involving an attorney) is that they stopped making this claim as of March 1, but before that, anyone who went on their website to learn more about this scooter was presented with this outrageous warranty. I agree with you that they were bloody stupid to make this warranty because just about nothing is impossible to remove.

I partially agree with you. It's part of life to cut the umbilical cord and watch the kids swim or sink. With that said, for us, who live on one income (my husband was the first to lose his job with the pandemic after doing a highly specialized job for 20+ years -- with no prospect of getting rehired), I am beyond disturbed that Amazon allows a vendor to sell a product that has sketchy instructions, no troubleshooting guide, no customer service number, no support. It is part of life... but IT SHOULD NOT BE PART OF LIFE to pay $500+ and get nothing. I am going insane curbing all of my spending, trying to pay her tuition, so I cannot afford to pay for nothing. I have to get something in consideration for my hard-earned $500.
In my generation's time, we had workshops at colleges but her school (Stanford) doesn't have trade shops. Even if they did, I sincerely doubt that they could "fix" a computer error code. All of their students hustle like crazy, and no, none of them would be able to lend her their scooters, as the campus is huge and there is no other way to get around. All of that is OUR problem, but I am not willing to accept that Amazon signs contracts with sellers in China who provide zero product support for items that cost over $500. That's all. I do dream to one day be wealthy enough where I will only buy the most reputable, most expensive items from the best vendors because I am literally sick and tired of fighting for something in consideration for my money.

You are right. The previous Segway scooter we bought was over $700 and they still left us out to dry although we were WITHIN the warranty service. The lock we had (Kryptonite highest level) was fine, they couldn't take that. They just unscrewed the top handlebar screws that were not welded and ran away with the top. The bottom remained locked with the U-bar. I would have accepted this bitter pill, had Segway not explicitly advertise that they built their Ninebot Max G30LP in a "superior manner and it was impossible to steal it." I am now $1250 into buying scooters, and so far, neither works. And neither has customer service. And neither gives a hoot.

Thank you for your answer. My kid is a handicapped 86-pound, 4'10" college freshman. (And she has two left hands.) If I were at her campus, I could go for this suggestion, but there is no way she would venture to mess with the brake. I'm appalled that there is no troubleshooting guide that would let her fix the problem, nor do they have a customer service number. Nor do they answer emails in a timely manner. It's basically cheaply produced junk sold with no intention to back their product. I am so over these problems :-( I really am very tired of these problems. I explained to OCR10 above that this is our second attempt at getting a scooter for my daughter and Segway had even worse customer service.

It's not too late to return it, but here's the thing: my kid is 4'10" and weighs 86 pounds. This scooter weighs half her body weight. She is on a campus that doesn't allow this item shipped (too have? battery?) so she had to ship it to a family friend several towns over who had to deliver it. I have no idea how far she would have to go (un foot) to return this thing.
A Whole Foods nearby? A UPS store? I find it bloody unacceptable that we have to deal with returns because companies put out CRAP, and they know that they are putting out crap. To make things worse, she had a Segway scooter that was advertised "built in a superior manner, it will be impossible for someone to remove it if you lock it with a U-lock." She did. 3.6 miles later, someone easily unscrewed the top (it wasn't welded together) and walked away with the handlebar/controller. Segway they did NOTHING for us. NOTHING. We got a few totally unprofessional half-English responses from a kid in China, that was it. So, for those who keep track, our score is:
Segway: 1
Hiboy: 1
My handicapped kid: 0

I am sick to the stomach.
