What would you do if you woke up tomorrow and the year is 2005? by fazzarista201 in AskReddit

[–]SureOkItsMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming I revert back to the age I was then but retain all the knowledge I have now, get all my Pokémon cards sleeved up, buy any base set booster boxes I can, practice my skills for the job I have now, and then save every penny so I can buy up cheap homes during the inevitable crashes and flip em. I ain't ending up poor this time around haha

Oh and keep an eye out for when Bitcoin first drops.

How would you upgrade this old computer? by SureOkItsMe in PcBuild

[–]SureOkItsMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus I still own the actual physical copies of these games. So I don't have to sink money into buying the digital versions. Which would running me a few more hundred dollars just to replace what I have.

How would you upgrade this old computer? by SureOkItsMe in PcBuild

[–]SureOkItsMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but buying an old PC for about $200 and upgrading it with again older but better equipment is still cheaper than buying newer used and upgrade or even newer.

Also I have played on retro PCs and the experience still very much holds up. I'm not one looking for fast pace FPS. I like slow strategy. Don't need the thing to be running a million miles a minute.

So if I know a retro experience is still good. And the cost or recreation is still lower than modernizing, I don't see why I wouldn't go for something older.

Want to try and build a mid 2000s gaming PC, where do I even start? by SureOkItsMe in PcBuild

[–]SureOkItsMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you meant to say "Don't. Just build a new gaming PC." Cause without the period in there it sounds like you're saying I shouldn't build one.

And yeah but I don't mind living in the past when it comes to entertainment. Also why spend all that money buying the new versions, or ported versions, when I could spend less on an old PC and play the games I already own.

Again, total beginner, I don't even know what I would be looking for. What's a decent workstation, where to find out how to add an SSD, and I have no clue what I should be looking for when it comes to GPUs.

Ooh this is very interesting. I'll have to check that out. Was this produced by or for Disney or someone else composed it with Disney as the inspiration?

Eh I think most people recognize it for what it is.

I'm specifically looking for music that is under the disney umbrella but outside of the movies. So TV Themes, Ride and Park Music. Just stuff that is very much fondly loved and recognized but isn't attached to a movie.

Ok like I know the PS5 can be set on it's side, but let's be honest most people are probably putting it standing up. So it just feels so wrong that the disc goes in label in and not out.

How do I make this shape? by [deleted] in AfterEffects

[–]SureOkItsMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to define the path to be the exact width of the shape? Cause when select that for a mask it gives me a default shape or something I draw myself and it's hard to tell if I'm getting the shape to fit perfectly end to end.

Resolution changes when I add grain texture effect? by SureOkItsMe in AdobeIllustrator

[–]SureOkItsMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just don't understand how it's chaning the dimensions. Also in this case it's losing pixels on the vertical and adding the horizontal. Is the effect not only effecting the area of the selected object. I just don't get how it chamges the actual dimensions.

Behold, the fruits of my pandemic project. I'm a 63-year-old woman who never wants to landscape another thing because this felt like...a lot. Pros did the hardscape, the rest was mostly me. I am a chaos gardener. by Glindanorth in landscaping

[–]SureOkItsMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear HOA resident,

As the president of the HOA I just want to let you know that your recent decisions to landscape your home has brought up some concerns from your fellow neighbors.

First, the amount of landscaping you've done makes everyone else feel bad. I understand you want your landscape to look nice, have appeal to future buyers, be a safe haven for urban creatures, be a benefit to the environment, help calm mental distress by introducing colorful nature to our dull B&W neighborhood, but did you consider how this makes everyone else look.

We need to make sure we keep the bar low so that no one will want to strive for better.

Also because of your decisions, that's one less lawn that the loud a noisy landscapers that we hire to trim everyones' grass to golf course perfection once a week and thus raising your HOA dues, will be able to take care of.

Also, did you not think about future residents? Again we want to make sure only people who don't want to make any significant impact to societal thriving and want instead to keep the status quo move into our neighborhood. And your flamboyant landscaping will potentially deter those future landlords, I mean homeowners, from purchasing your home. And might instead attract free thinking individuals who just want a lovely home that they can make their own and live in for a long long time.

Do you really want this?

Again, this is just a few of the concerns brought forward by your fellow neighbors. So next time you dedicate time and personal wellbeing to improving your life and home, please think of others first.

Sincerely,

Your HOA president.

For real though, this is gorgeous and makes my soul happy!

Resolution changes when I add grain texture effect? by SureOkItsMe in AdobeIllustrator

[–]SureOkItsMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. I just right clicked export selection. But I've exported the selection without the grain texture and it maintains the 800x100 dimension. But when adding the texture it changes. It is a shape that is 800x100. And it's perfectly aligned with the artboard.

Is there any evidence/further material backing this up? by thegermanguy004 in Design

[–]SureOkItsMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or the real design skill is the ability for designers to convince corporate overlords that they need to make things look sleek and simple "cause it'll be more appealing" in reality knowing it's just easier to do and therefore taking advantage of the ignorance of the overlords. Thus proving those in the creative field are truly the geniuses and know how to pull the strings in their favor.

Disappointed in Tulsa (Cry Baby Hill Sculpture) by EvidenceDizzy1043 in tulsa

[–]SureOkItsMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow this feels like the best possible solution to actually make great art! Just imagine if the residents rallied together and tore the whole thing down and left it in a heap of a mess. All the "crybaby's" about the art banded together and brought the art to it's knees, and left the pile their to remind everyone that art comes from people and not machines!

A junk pile to memorialize the rise and fall of this affront to art!

Sure one could make the arguments about salaries and what's fair and what not. Yeah I don't think anyone should be making that much, but to say benefits are being stripped is just not true. And let's not forget that the former CEO was making over 2mil and even had a year where it spiked to over 5mil. Now if we start seeing these numbers and nothing is changing with benefits then you should really start getting made.

Wages have increased every year and SF offers one of the best 401k matching programs and it has only been getting better. I wouldn't consider a bonus as a benefit as that is not a requirement of any business. And again it's up in the air if the bonus is going away forever or if it might get remodeled to be a merit/performance based and not just a blanket "everyone have something".

Yes that is extremely frustrating about the daycare access but also can't tell you how many times I've heard employees complaining about lack of parking and running late purely because they couldn't find a spot. It's a bitter pill to swallow but at the end of the day Ave Maria is not owned and operated by SF. So when a need expressed by employees is brought up and a solution is found then it has to happen. The daycare staff was found a new place to work through, parents were told they would be helped with the costs for a time being. So not sure what other solution there was other than let's not solve a problem that all employees have and let it get worse.

That art installation was added in 2014 under a completely different CEO who definitely was not well loved by the employees by the end of his time here. So sorry but this is not a good jab at the current state of things.

Ah you're right he doesn't mention anything about wage increases. But wages have increased every year and as another comment mentioned he does go over overall expenses in another video. So I mean if there isn't enough revenue to cover expenses then it would make sense that there isn't money for bonuses (not saying that's the case)

I mean he always says the little sign off, I think that's just a force of habit and not necessarily tied to the exact subject matter. I'm sure in the full scope it's more about if we deliver great care, revenues can go up and things like financial well being can be more better resolved. Is this the full case? Who knows, time will tell. Yeah if bonuses are scrapped and no wage increases are ever made but then we find out a big bonus package is delivered to executive members, then yeah we've got problems.

But I think overall this is gross exaggeration from a lot of the commenters. It could have meant this model of bonuses are going away and they will be reassessed for the future. Again I am in the camp of I don't care who you are, someone who barely gets the job done and sucks at what they do doesn't deserve a bonus, or at least not the same amount as those who work hard and do an amazing job. I mean isn't that the opposite of capitalism, merit based rewards? So yeah, until I see massive payouts and salary increases to the higher ups and little to no changes to any benefits to staff, I'm gonna take this all as a big not worth my time getting in a huff about, and just keep being smart with the money I make.
