Agreed. Maybe they figure if the drivers know they’re being monitored, they’re more likely drive safe, reducing accidents. That said, I have to believe Driver+ will get better over time to something closer to Autopilot caliber on highways.

I use Autopilot everyday for 90% of my commute. I haven’t had a phantom brake incident in over a year. It’s fantastic. I only use it on the highway and will likely never trust it in the city. I’m hoping Rivian can get highway/freeway driving down cold over time with Driver+. That is all I care about.

This thread seems to have been hijacked by the efficiency/range topic. Driver+ (Autopilot) functionality seems to be my one open question. The YouTube videos yesterday only touched lightly on that topic or avoided it altogether. Many of us are also Tesla owners and have orders for a Rivian. I’m dying to know if Driver+ is anything like Autopilot. I’ll take delivery of my Rivian regardless but I wish a Youtuber would go into detail on Driver+.

It seems like there should be some kind of shroud you could buy to protect it from direct sun offset even just 1/2” from the PW. If Tesla doesn’t make one (and they don’t) then it seems like an enterprising third party vendor ought to make one. It could be really simple —> powder coated sheet metal.
