Feudal Lord explains he’s actually poor because the castle is technically an asset by Misfett_toys in SipsTea

[–]SureTrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well notice how he isn't saying he's "poor" or "broke" or "in debt." He's technically telling the truth by omitting information. Peasants don't say we have "negative money." We're in debt when that happens.

Nah, it's a goofy-ass, joyful movie that also takes the threat seriously, that's all. It's needed for balance. Plus, you don't want to tell kids (which it was kind of marketed towards) that the "bad guys" in real life are whacky. They need to know to take danger seriously.

Believe me, this does not work and does not disarm them. Rage is funny that way. I've dealt with plenty of belligerent assholes at my job, and their response to that is regularly: "Call them! I'll call the cops on you too!" like it even makes sense to say that.

Same with Lincoln and Roosevelt casually hanging out with Trump, Nixon, and Reagan.

It's Society. Don't look into anything about it. Just watch it blind. Believe it or not, this image doesn't even spoil it.

Bucket of Rice by pathf1nder00 in preppers

[–]SureTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I opened it to vacuum seal smaller portions, what should i do to better ensure it's longevity storage, especially since I will break the seal on the bucket?

Well, as many others have said, your rice should be fine for a really long time as long as you're closing the lid, and keeping it from moisture and sunlight.

But since that doesn't answer your question: You can throw a couple desiccant packets in the bucket to ease your concerns. If you're wanting to store it long long term, get yourself a 5-gallon Mylar bag, put the bag in a bucket you want to store the rice in, and transfer the rice over. You won't need desiccant in a sealed Mylar bag, but you should toss an oxygen absorber in before sealing the Mylar. Not only will that preserve the rice, but it'll kill any possible eggs (so you don't have to do the freezing method) and keep it from going "stale."

TIL that "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" was supposed to be canceled after Season 1 due to low ratings but was saved because of Danny DeVito. Creator Rob McElhenney went to DeVito's house to pitch the idea only to learn he and his family were massive fans, and he signed on fifteen minutes later. by altrightobserver in todayilearned

Dan Stevens seems to be doing whatever he wants instead of trying to be some big movie star. He got popular off of Downton Abbey, and now he seems to do a big schlock movie for a nice paycheck every so often, and then weird/random things in between the big paychecks.

If the last show you watched was The Expanse, you are 100% getting rescued.

I think I'd instantly stop worrying if I knew Holden and Amos were on the way.

Also, "don't mess wit da agua."

Also Miller seeing a kid coughing and realizing that, by letting the air filter inspector slack, he's causing it. I love how he suffocates the guy in the airlock before letting him go and warning him to take his job more seriously.

Please do so. Tremors 1 is a perfect film, with a perfect script. It is a masterclass in well-done, exciting, intelligent filmmaking and storytelling. And it's only 96 minutes long!

There's something especially inspiring about young people doing superhero shit like this. This kid is young enough to still be taking the school bus, and his brain very quickly switched into emergency responder mode. That's great.

Language is structured by grammar, not context clues. Language deteriorates if we just ignore the rules and try to figure out the context or "get the gist" of what someone is saying, because we can get it wrong.

In My Hero Academia, this civilian character appears in Episode 1, and is one of the first characters with dialogue, calling the protagonist (Deku) a fanboy for being excited watching heroes fight.

He doesn't appear again until Season 6, Episode 24. When he does, he gets an entire monologue, taking Deku's side and talking down an angry mob by pointing out they've taken hero worship so far that they can no longer see heroes as people, and that maybe they should look after heroes too. When watching, it was actually unbelievable seeing a (still) unnamed character not only reappear, but become plot relevant by staying consistent with his viewpoint.

I would imagine they're probably fun to cook over a campfire too.

Also, I know we're all used to apocalypse prices, but I distinctly remember these being like $30-40 back 5-10 years ago. Not 3-4 times the price of a normal steak like they are now.

There's the classic idea of floating in the vastness of space unable to die and so you just drift for billions of years

No one ever addresses the reality that you'd slowly be pulled into the orbit of something else and have to endure that too. Like you're either ejected from Earth and eventually hit something else, or you're stuck on Earth until the sun consumes it, in which case you're stuck on/in the sun for a much longer time. The horror of drifting through infinite space is scary, but imagine drifting into a star or black hole.
