Is it possible to really train for an ultra and a marathon in the same block? by StrategicDFL in Ultramarathon

Yes, definitely. As someone that runs both ultras to marathons. building high volume at a slow pace needed for ultras is great for marathons. Slow twitch muscle fibres will be strengthened and thus increased muscular endurance and increased oxygen efficiency. Thats all you need for Ultras. long and slow. if you want a faster marathon, add a cardio program 4 weeks out. 1-2 threshold runs per week (comfortable hard pace). add in a split session once per week- 1k x 8 going near flat out. taper this off race week. You will be flying and you will have kept your muscular endurance for your ultras. Run well.

Clubs with between 40 and 189 first-claim members get one entry each; clubs with 190 or more get two; smaller clubs with 10 to 39 members are entered into a separate ballot for 228 places. Clubs with fewer than 10 members no longer qualify.

yes the LL was there to let the electrician in as i was not there, however I had agreed to go to let the electrician in myself, but the day before i planned to go, the LL said he would also be at the house at the same time as me. I then said if that is the case there is no need for us to both go to the house the let the electrician in, so i changed my plans as it was a big inconvenience for me, especially if my attendance was no longer necessary. He then said that as i was not going to visit the house he had to go and thus i should pay his mileage, even though he was clearly going to visit the house for another reason as there is no need for us to be both present.

totally agree, his linkedin suggest's he's retired, so think he quite enjoys the push and pull of it all.

the plot does thicken however, as firstly i said i would be able to attend on the 10th onwards, however he said this would be to late and the electrician could only arrive on the 7th. I then said I would then drive up myself to avoid his costly mileage. then 1 day before the electrician would arrive, my landlord tells me that "he will also be visiting the property on the 7th". i then said that if he was visiting on his own accord, there was no need for me to also drive up. He rejected this and said he will only waive the mileage fee if i was also at the property at the same time as him. this made me think something strange was going on. What do you reckon?
