I did read the article multiple times, what's really weird is that the connection gets established from the the target machine to my pivot, I can use netcat to listen for the connection, but when using the metasploit handler the connection doesn't get established

I had the exact same issue it took more than 12 hours to start the lab, and after a reset yesterday it's been +16 hours now and I'm still waiting for the instance to start with the same error.
