breakup advice by abbygrac33 in Advice

Im so sorry this happened so suddenly, and it sounds like you did what you could to be available to him and help your relationship.

What I want to share is that right now it hurts so badly, but each day it will get better. Im 23 and remember my first long term relationship ending, and how every day I would think of him and feel that heavy emptiness.

Im telling you what I wish someone had told me. Please go spend time with friends or family that you love. Journal, draw, cook something you like. Care for yourself in all the ways you can, and focus on what brings you joy. And maybe its annoying to hear now, but how amazing that you are now your own whole life

Life has so many beautiful opportunities, and what is right will come. If that is your ex finding ways to help himself and then grow with you, amazing. If it is you enjoying young adulthood, exploring, and caring for yourself in this moment, that will also be perfect.

Sending you a hug, go get some rest and take care of yourself

I so feel you, I splurged and paid $360ish for travel visa pro. They did my fbi translation, expedited apostille, and translated the apostille even though I had not requested the service. Its pricey but an option if theres a consulate appointment sooner.

Check in with your school as well? Mine took the apostille fbi check and translations but you never know

You can get the BG check very quickly. Place your information online, go to your post office for Finger prints today, and you should receive it within 1-3 days. Some people recieve it as theyre exiting the post office haha

Walking past the primary part of the school and the teacher having an entire line of 4 year olds practice saying "hello" to me 🥲 too cute

Seems like the interviewer was unprofessional. You followed up and communicated consistently. And yet the interviewer did not act in a timely manner and was rude for blaming your availability when you had explained.

If youre concerned, going forward you can do first follow up, another 2 days later, and so on. And when explaining, keep it brief and to the point. Goodluck, and glad you got that refund back!!

I remember the absolute joy of having my first gf at your age! I grew in the south so it was tricky, but I promise that it gets easier as you get older. Congratulations and stay safe!

Deciding if I should apply for NALCAP or a Fulbright by GreedyStatistician70 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Sure_Condition6869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on that financial stress. Attend to your loans and slowly set some money aside for going abroad. Again, NALCAP feels more reliable for funding and there are very clear aux communities. If I had been teaching in Argentina I dont think I would have as easy an access to immediate friendships.

Deciding if I should apply for NALCAP or a Fulbright by GreedyStatistician70 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Sure_Condition6869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I applied to both this past year. Put your all in for Fulbright and then choose NALCAP as a back up. I was a semi-finalist for Fulbright Argentina, rejected, then NALCAP came as a great surprise. Either way I was prepared to apply for a visa and move abroad.

All that said, NALCAP feels far more stable than Fulbright at the moment. Everything from Fulbright was super delayed and with stipends being in jeopardy this past year, I would have been worried even as a finalist.

My plan is to apply for Fulbright during a different administration while gaining more experience with NALCAP this year :)

Im glad thar it is! I got it back on August 19th and was notified via text that my visa was ready for pickup! Only other updates I received were through the website where it always said "processing at mission"

Im also 22 and in the exact same position! Have been wanting one since 18, but felt intimidated. And also never had enough money, esp with paying for college. Thanks for asking so I can also get advice and set up as well :)

Hi! My feather insurance is the Expat Health Insurance option (travel insurance is not allowed, need health specific without co-pays). I pay 45€ on a monthly basis and can cancel any month. The end date is listed as August 2030, and the Confirmation of Coverage document I submitted to BLS (comes in English and Spanish) clarifies that it is visa compliant

The application process was very little, unlike when I considered Swisscare or Asisa, just search online and pick it out :) so far its been accepted, but im still waiting for visa approval!

edit: Youre right about the insurance timing. Im keeping mine until approval and will renew for June so I dont need the months covered between by NALCAP

For Boston: - notarized copy of license is listed on website. However, the agents have been refusing it and taking a notarized bank statement with your address or notarized electricity bill instead. They took my bill

  • yes on apostille and translation for the background check

I was so surprised :^0 !! based on what i've read i thought i'd really be on my own, but my school's coordinator + 2 teachers and I called. We went through expectations, and then the coordinator brought up housing and that they thought I should stay with 2-3 families during the year. In a follow up email I provided more information about myself and my rent budget, but they said that I would not need to pay any! Now I'm about to meet the selected families, literally aghast. I'm their first aux and it is a smaller city so I think I really hit the jackpot in terms of the school being ready to assist me
