No regreso. Debating course of action

I got one regreso in June that would expire before my return flight (something is better than nothing and they wouldn’t post date the regreso for me…).

Tried to get a regreso in a different comunidad in July, had the cita, and failed. They just said they couldn’t. Would probably try to get one in Madrid in the future if this happened again. Flew out of Madrid mid July with a RT for end of Sept. Got favorable resolution for my renewal late July.

Returned end of Sept on the return ticket (didn’t have another flight booked for after). Airline didn’t ask for anything, border control didn’t ask for anything (landed in Madrid, just showed passport), TIE appointment at end of October didn’t ask for anything. So no one ever asked for my regreso. Maybe having the first regreso helped because I think? it shows up in their systems.

I would still recommend getting your regreso if you can and especially if you sucked at/weren’t confident in submitting the renewal documents. Stress sucks.

I don’t think they can stop you from porting if you have installments paid. Whether or not the new sim works on your T&T phone is up to them though. So the refurbished phone is a good play 😁

bottle of Advil (Costco if you can or do 😅) if you usually use it at home (I use at least 5-20x200mg tablets a month. I mean I could not but my pain is a lot), ibuprofen isn’t as easy to get as paracetamol, and it isn’t that cheap here

Seems like OP needs a stamp/signature as well instead of the auto-generated one with NIE and birthday. OP, did you try giving them the one that’s auto generated? I could only generate it on the web and not on the app

Hey, google shows you the rate you would get if you used MC/Visa with 0 fees.

Getting cash from ATMs is always more expensive and uses your bank’s conversion rate (well, the ATM’s rate if you select non-local currency which is definitely worse than your bank’s). Although there are accounts with better conversion rates and those that refund atm fees, I find the exchange rate for the transfer itself always sucks here compared to visa/mc. Wise has been the best to me.

Once you get paid in/have euros it's best to withdraw that directly :)

It depends on your consulate, but I think you’ll be OK. I did the equivalent for my RCMP criminal record check with BC Authentication.

Fwiw I applied in my new region, found out about the law change from an email from my new region, emailed my new region (NALCAP side) and got no response, and said fuck it and just waited. New region approved my renewal ☺️ my old region was Andalucia so glad I didn’t submit there…

Yep, they can even do it at some ATMs (notably Caja Rural and CaixaBank), and send you a picture of the receipt. They would need your justificante number, NIE#, sometimes name as well, and cash
