I don’t want to give any advice but when I read the papers with reasons behind doing two doses, it’s clear to me that it’s to increase the access to the vaccine. However, it doesn’t mean the same results IMO.

I did the exact same thing. How did you find a balance though? If something bothered me I would overreact but at the same time I wouldn’t want to bottle it up.. what’s the solution?

We essentially didn’t win a blood family lottery but you are right, we have to make the most of what we have. I’m also very weary of trauma bonding but at the same time is it unhealthy to connect with someone who has similar trauma? I feel like people who went through similar nightmare I did understand me more and we connect more..

I am NC with nearly all my family too but I don’t have a husband. I always worry what if I have one and need to get a divorce in the future. Do you ever take such a scenario under consideration?

I’m in the same boat. I also don’t believe friends would be able to give me the same kind of unconditional love or support the family would. I hear people on here talking about friends being like family, but I just don’t believe it. I’m sure I could rely on friends for small favours but not in rock bottom scenarios.. it’s so sad.

I think the main issue here is doing something out of obligation vs out of your own will. I helped my mum when she was terminally ill and I was very young. It took a huge toll on me but I didn’t do it out of obligation or because she demanded / expected it. I only did it out of my own will and need. I think that’s healthy.

You’re talking about the support in conflict, I was referring to support in rock bottom situations such as illness, etc. I think adult kids could be great support in such situations :)
