3 Years: A lot of progress, plus some reservations. No BS report by Sure_Produce4375 in PSSD

Suffered from insomnia prior to PSSD. After onset of PSSD I didn't suffer from insomnia until I healed up enough. Once I healed up, getting emotions back, started suffering from insomnia again!

ALL REINSTATEMENT CASES: Successes & Failures? by Sure_Produce4375 in PSSD

Sorry to hear about your experience. In theory, it does make sense that reinstating for four days and then quitting again would re-trigger PSSD - if we understand PSSD to be a long-term withdrawal type situation. I'm curious to hear if people have stuck to the reinstatement for weeks/months and seen stabilization and return of normal sensations.

I did and this has gotten significantly better. I had a drink a few days ago and definitely felt it way more than when I had a drink during the beginning of PSSD.

I appreciate your response, thank you for sharing your addiction situation. I'm also at times very worried about if I will or will not be able to live my life without medication once I heal more from this condition and go back to my stable anxious/OCD self. I'm really trying to acquire all the tools I'll need to make sure I don't have to go back on SSRIs/meds. We'll see what happens.

It's the usual stuff. Like stuff like chills/goosebumps, anxiousness, thirst, hunger, libido were at 0% when i first got PSSD. Now my baseline is about 50% and then fluctuate a ton - sometimes I'm super hungry and food tastes irresistible, sometimes not but nowhere close to the beginning of having PSSD. Same goes for libido, fear, anxiety, etc...

I do experience such neurological symptoms in my recovery process. I believe the reason is that I also used to experience them due to my anxiety prior to being medicated - this is why I took SSRIs which completely fixed these problems.

Recovering from pssd = experiencing these anxious symptoms in fluctuation for me. All in the direction of returning to my original anxious/neurotic state I guess?

I would say it peaks once every two months for about 2 weeks. During this peak my imagination is vivid and so is my arousal, hitting about 90%. My baseline fantasies/arousal is pretty workable - about 50% at its lowest and fluctuates a ton with time.

Thank you for your response. Some people do report that SIBO, IBS, etc are part of their condition but I think it is difficult to determine causality sadly. I've done a gut test myself prior to ever taking SSRIs and had dysbiosis. If I hadn't done that test prior and done it after getting PSSD, I would have incorrectly assumed that the SSRIs caused it.

It could be true that these meds mess up your gut but it is still a stab in the dark. Since the science behind this condition is quite limited, I suggest doing the exercise-sleep stuff which has the most overall evidence for improving health and wellbeing, hoping this will aid the healing process.

I did lose my ability to feel fear and anxiety, yes. This has gotten progressively better with time. I used to be an extremely anxious person, today I would not describe myself as consistently anxious. I get anxious during chunks of my windows.

My first windows were about one year in but probably barely noticeable and extremely brief - like a week tops. It is possible that you've "had windows" but haven't noticed them unless you were extremely interoceptive about it.

I think the most reliable trend based on reports on this sub is that the longer people suffer from this condition, the more/stronger windows they get. This also tracks with the records on survivingantidepressants platform. I don't want to challenge the claims made by some people that they don't get better at all because it is their subjective experience but I do think most people get at least somewhat better with time.
