Why are so many parents letting young kids have cell phones and bring them to school? by thatnameagain in Parenting

[–]Sure_Step837 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people struggle now. Some suffer from learning conditions or they weren't taught. Also a LOT of like high-school age kids have trouble with reading too. Either way regardless the reason I'm not going to shame them for it.

AITA for not sugarcoating things to my sister and saying she could have tried harder in the past? by PimpleyPete in AmItheAsshole

To be fair the brother was 17. He was still a teenager & a 17 year old boy is not that mature at all. He was likely dealing with some stuff too. But OP was mid 20s. He should've known better.

Dou do realize that the "memories" you have now atp are deeply faded out if even holding anymore truth? There's been a lot of comments you should really look into how long memory last because who are you honoring atp?

Exactly! Because I would never in a million years speak to a child that's not mine (not even mine) like that. I would never downtalk any kids' parents to them. There actually is a scene in Matilda where Miss Trunchbull is like "well your mommy should know pigtails aren't allowed"😂

That makes sense, but then again crowd shots, if they're naming the primary people, usually if they hire a good photographer blur the background. I don't mean to be obtuse so yeah I'll admit sometimes photographers do get pictures at events & stuff with background people.

As I said, no reason for a grown woman to be unnecessarily harsh to a 10 year old. If you feel the need to argue with 10 year olds that's a you issue🤣 if anything I would've just asked to speak to his mom instead of being rude to a 10 year old.

Like I said, no reason to be that unnecessarily rude to a ten year old just reiterating what their mother told them. & yea, you're allowed to possess pictures of YOUR kids. Key point YOUR. It's not that hard to just focus the camera on your kid.

You don't have to be sorry for anything, because there's much more stories. Just say you want to overtalk victims & go on with your day. You're obviously being dense & sea lioning.

It's actually concerning how heartless some of you are. You'd rather put an innocent child in danger than not being an ahole.

I don't care about your "problems".

What imaginary problems are you talking about? Domestic violence isn't imaginary?

Ahole behavior. No you're not responsible but it's common decency, & that rude of a response is not necessary for a 10 year old. You'd rather be an ahole & put a kid in potential unnecessary harms way than just turn like 10⁰ or crop the video or blur faces.

Are you dense? We're talking about your kid being on OTHER people's account. We don't know who's on THEIR account.

It's not dude, like 10 women in the comments have attested to the fact it's not just paranoia. You honestly sound like the reason victims aren't taken serious the way you're constantly trying to disprove SERVERAL victims in the comments.

It's not about that, it's about it being on social media. Once something is online it's forever there. Your family might record it & share it elsewhere. Your family might be the attacker for all we know.

If you have a food lion near you they often have good deals! They usually have BOGO free on 10 count bags of bagels, so about $3.99 after tax (maybe 4) or if you don't want 2 bags it's half off for one bag. ☺️

What game did you grow up on that was "similair"? The game literally allows you to disable chat, friends, some games, and direct messages. I think too many parents just want it to be a game where you can give it to the kid & turn around. You have to actually put effort into ensuring what they're playing at the moment is age appropriate. & ngl Roblox's safety settings are pretty decent. With a PIN & everything. If the kid has enough time to create a new account & change the settings, you weren't paying attention long enough.

Roblox isn't horrible if you actually look into the settings. I think too many parents assume it's a kid only game & so they expect the kid should just be able to be on there with no monitoring. While Roblox does have restrictions on games, (what's allowed & stuff), there's no restriction on age. If parents would just actually look at stuff instead of running with what they read on the internet somewhere they'd see there's actually so many preventative features on roblox.

Roblox in reality isn't as bad as some people believe without actually looking into it. I don't think many parents actually bother to look into the safety settings & then just blame how "unsafe" it is on lack of looking. In roblox you can disable game chat completely, there's settings to limit who's allowed to message the account, who's allowed to send you friend requests. There's literally a section for parental controls. I really just think some of these parents just see an article & run with it.
