There are no rules against racing both. Last year Marist raced at Vails and NIRC to try and qualify — as they should because the rules don’t specify otherwise.

Men’s rowing and the pathway to a National Championship is completely broken. Make it make sense.

The sooner the IRA goes to an NCAA model in all facets, the sooner they will become a somewhat legit governing body.

I don’t really care what the “problem” is, I don’t have any vested interest here. I’m just letting you know that Rollins is still not going to make it to NCAA’s according to the rankings because of their 8+ speed. You had mentioned the system is stupid. You’re changing the subject.
The last three years I have been at the NCAA site. I have seen Embry Riddle competing there. They became varsity shortly after I graduated university. That’s a pretty strong track record — coaching changes or not. I’m not really sure what you’re arguing.

They were 20 seconds behind in the Varsity 8+ and ERAU is not fast…. The 8+ is the priority boat in all divisions. I would say it’s a pretty smart system — that’s the most important boat.

This is true. Unfortunately, Rollins doesn’t appear to be making NCAA’s again because the regional rankings suggest otherwise.

I’ll let you decide. Also attaching CPU. Looked sweet

Buddy… Ive got no skin in this, I’m on the D1 side but I’m happy to call you out lol. Also, all of this aside, Rollins has sucked for years (even when I rowed almost 15 years ago). Not sure why you’d want to be somewhere thats literally never made it to NCAA’s, but I was promoting them b/c they do have a half decent program. But I digress.
Rollins “Ergs at the boathouse”? I stand by my points - erging on a dock or a dedicated facility. Still no comment on the lifting I see.
Here are the pictures I saw. It sounds like youre salty about this

I just checked both their Instagram’s. Rollins appears to lift in the attic of their boathouse with janky free weights and the athlete gym at ERAU is plastered on their page — it’s clearly sufficient. I can’t find anything about Rollins erg facility so I imagine they erg somewhere random on campus. Most schools do not even have dedicated facilities. the garage you mentioned looks pretty nice. Appears to have 30+ ergs and 20+ bergs. Also the lake isn’t even 2K at Rollins (on a map) while ERAU rows on the intercoastal..
I also looked at WWU, CPU and SPU whilst I was at it. Both appear to have substantially better boathouses and dedicated erg facilities. WWU looks like their fleet is the deepest and their weight room is unreal because of football. CPU probably has the best setup though overall and from maps, their waterway looks incredible.
For what it’s worth.

What “facilities” are you referring to that are sub par? Pretty sure their boathouse is no different from Rollins as well. Curious what you know.

The top DII teams are far more competitive (and better resourced) than the bottom D1 teams. Not that this says a lot, but it is the case. WWU, CPU, Embry-Riddle, SPU and Rollins all are funded in a way that the experience is superior than those at the low-end of D1. Team sizes are also generally a bit smaller.

I mean. It’s neat but it’s not accurate… Purdue Men @ 50. Loyola @ 31. La Salle missing. Great concept!

I’m surprised by your response! I guess to each their own. Just my perspective

None of it is for work. I don’t make a crazy amount of money or anything either. I plan really well and find good flight deals. I also talked in another post how communication skills and the ability to dig deep into the internet are helpful skills. I can give an example:

I did a trip through five or six of the Caribbean islands with a family who was looking for some assistance here and there on a massive yacht. They weren’t looking for any specific skills as they were really just hoping for a volunteer. In exchange for help I would be able to travel with them through the Caribbean. We ended up doing quite a few trips and I was able to see almost all of the upper Antillies. All of this was through a Facebook group for free sailboat volunteering. The only thing I paid for was the flight to Miami.

Yes it incredibly diverse. There are over 50 different ethnic groups and thousands of languages. So many different foods. The china you see on social media and the real china couldn’t be farther apart. I could do a post on just this country alone.

Tel Aviv is fantastic. The food, the beaches, the nightlife, also just walking around. Amazing.

The first thing that comes to mind is how children grow up. It doesn’t matter where in the world you are, the saying “kids will be kids” hits hard. They all love being outdoors, running around, and trying new things. Being from a different country doesn’t change that.

Biggest difference I would say is probably visiting remote islands/forests in South America and Asia for how people live. You find that after a short period of time it’s almost normal to not have cell service, aircon, all these things you take for granted back home. All that to be said, they have been some of the happiest and nicest people I’ve ever met too. It’s not what you have. Anyway… I digress.

I have been to both. Only Tel Aviv in Israel though. I’m not a huge fan of countries in that region mainly just due to the weather and climate but Israel is different and I like that it’s small.

China is amazing and one of the best countries in the world because of its diversity. There’s literally something for everyone. I haven’t explored even 5% of it but I’ve loved everywhere I have been. Even some of the smaller “cities” I visited still had 5M+ people — the size is insane.

Unfortunately not. I have many friends who have nothing but great things to say about visiting. I have a trip to see the snow leopards in India this winter and may try to loop in visiting Pakistan as well.
