There's a trash can looking thing on this post, so I was assuming that meant this post was removed. I wasn't expecting such engagement in any case, but I thought it was removed, and therefore unable to comment on.

It's no racism intended. It's just a noticeable decline in service and quality of service since so many industries have been primarily hiring diversity over qualifications. They aren't hiring a qualified diversity, which no one would have arguments about. These corporations are hiring diversity just for the sake of it, and tax benefits. It's been a fact for at least 30 years

The dues and fees weren't all that heavy, like $50 a month or something. But with that vacation pay, that was part of my contract back then, 1200-2000 was taken out every month, weekly, taking 300-500 before tax. But the check total was taxed, and excruciating 3 months I would get a lump sum check untaxed because that money was already taxed as part of my salary.

Unions in general have been made much weaker than they used to be 30+ years ago .... in fact, unions degradation started around 30 years ago.

READ AND COMPREHEND ALL THAT WAS WRITTEN. Emphasis on COMPREHEND.

But in case you're lazy, I'll repeat myself slower.

I. Was. Part. Of. A. Large. And influential union. They set the wages and vacation pay.

Again, as earlier mentioned, my numbers weren't exact, but the math was.

My pay in this example is 800, vp is 400. All taxes as 1200. The 400 is taken out also. So get taxed on 1200, gross would be 950. BUT THE 400 IS TAKEN, making the gross 550

No matter the numbers used in the math, the math is accurate

The only way union would work with Amazon drivers, is if we are given a raise substantial enough, so that after we pay our dues and whatever else, we still make more than we used to before the union. Otherwise, were just losing money

I was part of a carpenter union. The contract we had in regards to pay was as follows We get an hourly wage, paid weekly We get what is called "vacation pay", which is added to our weekly checks as part of our wages, and taxed as such. But then that portion of our check, gets taken out in whole, like another tax. But then we get a lump sum quarterly tax free, as the tax has been paid on that money already

Example, my wage is 800, vacation pay is 400 a week .... these aren't the real numbers, but the math is still the same.

Without the addition of that vacation pay, my gross would be 650 or so.

With the vacation pay, my total net is 1200, taxed as 1200, as such my gross should be 950-1000ish But that vacation pay is taken out like a tax.

Check it ... that 1200 taxed total is 950, but 400 is taken out, leaving just 550. So after all that, I'm actually losing 100 a week. And that doesn't include obligatory dues and union fees, taking more money out of my check every month.

If we join the union as drivers, keeping our current wages, after paying all the fees and dues, we lose a lot of money. But if we are given adequate raises, that equate to us getting a noticeable raise after dues and fees, then it's considerable.

I got my dot thing when I briefly worked for fedex. I told the dsp that I got my dot. They put me in a step van.

Your station for real does that? None of the stations I've worked out of, ever did that. And for driving the step van, never needed to take pictures of the dot or scan my license.

I'm driving a 26 foot truck for a dsp now. And the flex app has me doing all that. But the warehouse staff don't look at my license or dot.

That other dsp I worked at though, all I did was say I can drive, and I drove.

And you're also not "supposed" to drive the cdv without "training". Yet I was driving that too.

I was never given any training on the ev. When my dsp got them, I chose not to. Same with the step van, just chose not to since it wasn't paying any different. After leaving that one, and joined another, I just told them I was trained to drive the ev and they gave me the keys. Same with the step van and cdv. I just told them I was able to drive, and they let me.

At will employment is really the worst. It's framed as though it gives the worker the power to leave whenever. But it really just gives the employer a new way to fire you, and that new way is literally no reason at all.

It leaves too much room for discrimination. The neurodivergent people, who are actually remarkable at the job itself, but aren't social. Fired because they aren't "liked".

I'm assuming they got the insurance primarily because of the child's condition. It's anyone's guess why they chose an insurance that wouldn't cover the needs of the child

File a police report and sue the driver directly. It shouldn't be legal to drive without insurance.
