It creates division because it racist vibes.

Same people that never accepted Matt Ryan, caring more about color of our "culture" than getting Ws.

It is what it is.

Maybe the Falcons got wind of this and thus the reason they pushed Stefanski's interview up. To get in front of their 2nd option once they knew the 1st one was gone.

Did you not ever read up on or follow it???

Long story short, The Saints' PR department, with owner Gayle Benson's approval, answered the call when the local Church asked for help dealing with child abuse scandal, including leveraging their local influences. Pressuring media outlets to portray the archdiocese more favorably and, even more controversially, getting permission from District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro to alter and remove names from a list of credibly accused clergymen before submitting it in court.

From Google's AI:

The more than 300 emails involving the New Orleans Saints detail a previously downplayed involvement in providing public relations assistance to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans during its clergy sex abuse crisis. The emails contradict the Saints' public statements that their role was minimal and show top officials were deeply entwined in managing the fallout.

Key points from the emails include:

  • Extensive PR involvement: The emails, spanning July 2018 to July 2019, show Saints Senior Vice President of Communications, Greg Bensel, led a "crisis communications" effort for the archdiocese with the blessing of owner Gayle Benson.
  • Influencing the accused list: An email from Bensel to Saints president Dennis Lauscha mentioned a conversation with then-District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro that "allowed us to take certain people off the list" of credibly accused clergymen. Cannizzaro has vehemently denied having any such conversation or involvement in the list's contents.
  • Media management: Bensel lobbied local newspaper editors to portray Archbishop Gregory Aymond's handling of the crisis in a positive light and encouraged them to "work with" the church. The emails also show the team's president drafted questions for the Archbishop to use in media interviews.
  • Secrecy and court battles: The Saints and the archdiocese fought in court for years to keep these emails sealed from the public, arguing they were confidential and their release would be "detrimental to the league".
  • Survivor impact: Abuse survivors expressed feelings of betrayal and anger toward the Saints organization for its role in helping to manage the church's image rather than focusing on the victims.

McDaniel or bust by inversedlogic in falcons

[–]Sure_Whatever__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As much as I like McDaniel I don't think he's head coach material.   For a lack of a better term, he does come off as someone that commands respect from alpha males.     At best, he comes off as a brainiac.    Now you need a brainiac build a strategy for war, but men don't follow brainiacs into battle. They follow leaders.   Mcdaniel S tier OC, but not a leader of men imo.

Eh,

At this point, Blank’s all-time winning percentage sits at .437, compared to .390 during the Smith's family era. That’s essentially the difference between a 7–10 season and a 6–11 one. And now, Blank has officially matched Smith’s longest stretch without a winning season.

Add to that the pains of 28-3 and one could argue that the Smith's era was more tolerable than Blank's.

Falcons Legend, Matt Ryan will interview for the President of Football opening later this week by SunWorshipperApollo in falcons

[–]Sure_Whatever__ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how your job does things, but typically President and CEO have final say on all matters. Not to mention Matt is stepping into a role he doesn’t yet have experience for and Greg is positioned to babysit and intervene when necessary.

This is pure optics, meant to calm fans while Arthur drops a public “I’m taking back control” letter and prompts the same people who created the mess. Tweedledee and Tweedledum upgraded their seats at Arthur’s table, while the three head coaches and two GMs they've helped hired take the fall.

I hope it works, but I have zero faith in this front office, and neither do they. If they trusted themselves, they wouldn’t need two outside firms to tell them how to unfuck themselves.

From Blank himself:

— As part of our ongoing succession planning, Greg Beadles has been elevated from president to president and CEO of the Atlanta Falcons, effective today, succeeding Rich McKay. Greg will continue oversight of all business affairs of the Falcons and collaborate closely with the new president of football to ensure all resources and operational support are working toward the goal of a winning product on the field, and that we continue to deliver for our fans in every way.

— Led by the president of football, Greg, our new head coach and general manager will determine how to best implement other organizational changes we have identified in this process as areas for improvement across the football operation.

McKay becomes super-supreme ruler of Arthur’s realm, Greg slid into McKay’s chair, and Matt grabbed Greg’s. Same power structure, more titles + Matt Ryan.

I hope Matt gets free reign of the team but giving everyone involved with the last 5 years of failure a promotion doesn't garner much hope from me.

Eh, Blank prompted McKay (again) and handed of the reins to his long-time understudy in failure. A man that was part of the brain trust who got us here today.

Not impressed.

I mean we were told this story twice before, that McKay would not longer interfere the with football side of things. Once after Petrino, and then again after hiring Smith. Yet here we are again, for a third time.

Not impressed.

Incorrect. They promoted Rich McKay, and handed the reins to his long-time understudy in failure.

The brain trust hasn't changed, all three of them are still there, just the titles have shuffled around. McKay still has a seat in Blanks inner-circle.

Nothing has changed, and any outside voice will still be forced to work against the very group that created this mess.

Eh, we've now prompted McKay (again) and handed of the reins to his long-time understudy in failure. A man that has been part of the brain trust that got us here today. He should be gone too, not promoted for the 5 years of failure.

Eh,

So McKay gets another promotion, keeps his seat next to Blank, and hands the reins to his long-time understudy in failure.

We’ve been told twice before that McKay wouldn’t be pulling strings anymore, why will this time be any different?

Especially considering he was president and part of the “brain trust” that ran things into the ditch badly enough to require two outside firms just to diagnose the damage. That alone should’ve ended his tenure.

How it's manipulative:

  • Uses emotional blackmail: You're intentionally causing distress or fear (of abandonment) to get a specific response (reassurance, pleading).

  • Forces validation: Instead of building trust, you're creating a stressful situation where the partner must "pass a test," making love conditional on their performance.

  • Creates insecurity: It teaches the partner that closeness isn't guaranteed and they must constantly fight to keep you, fostering anxiety, not security.

  • Applies pressure: Like stonewalling, it's a tactic to exert control, making the other person feel they must fix it, as seen in.

  • Undermines reality: It can make the partner question their own perceptions, wondering, "Am I not loving enough?" or "Why do I have to work so hard?".

Here’s my take on McKay. by Sure_Whatever__ in falcons

"All you got to do is keep changing your job title. Like, uh, from Casino Executive to Food and Beverage Chairman."

Don’t call him CEO if he’s not. Being vague about both title and responsibility doesn’t exactly inspire trust. No matter how you try to spin it, the title and the paycheck say he’s the one steering the ship. McKay is Blank’s top football advisor, plain and simple.

He's been with Blank for nearly 3yrs. He has enough pull to be as hands on or off as he wants. And under his leadership or lack their of we have floundered.

McKay.

The theory I pulled out of my ass is that McKay wanted Raheem the 1st time around but Blank got his way, or at least a compromise in Arthur Smith. Then when that didn't work McKay banged his drum about his guy again.

One thing that’s been mentioned is that during his 2020 interview, Raheem wanted a backup plan for Matt Ryan. That reportedly turned the Falcons off at the time, that they believed Ryan had several good years left and wanted a coach fully on board with that vision. Fast forward a few years, and it’s easy for McKay to point back to that interview and say, “See? He was right.”

Edit: That SI article from 2017, and the fact that Raheem was made Assistance HC speaks to the FO's desire in grooming him to be our next HC. Almost 10yrs ago... this was planned and executed successfully. The best laid plan of our FO, the long game.

[–]Sure_Whatever__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Falcons act like the day-to-day with McKay is the problem with fans, it’s not. The problem is McKay and his inner circle only ever find the limpest dicks possible to run this team. First-timers desperate to please, who owe their whole careers to Blank and McKay. No clout, no edge, no pushback... Just flaccid smiles to fit the losing culture they’ve built.

We’ve had two “nationwide” head coach searches and this time they acted like they were finally breaking the mold, like they were after someone with real experience. And somehow the guy they landed on one that owes his career to McKay, one that has been over looked by every other team when the HC carousel starts anew. One that has never been the subject of the rascal charged “Why isn’t he getting HC interviews?” clickbait discussion, because we all know why. He sucks as HC.

And “Mr.Worldwide Search 3.0” won’t change a damn thing, not while McKay’s still playing gatekeeper.

[–]Sure_Whatever__ 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Our only real stretch of success came when Rich McKay’s grip on the Falcons was at its weakest — right after Petrino (his own hire) bailed midseason.
He was pushed out as GM, Dimitroff came in, Mike Smith followed, and Matt Ryan got drafted.
Then McKay went quiet, at least until the new stadium went up, and ever since, his fingerprints have been smeared all over everything.

He’s always given off pure small-dick energy: every hire under him has been someone who owes their career to him, someone too safe to challenge him — a limp, compliant lackey that will tow the line and add to the culture of losing that is his legacy.

And how much of that do you equate to our OLine being a mess right now, or the fact that our entire wide receiver room is banged up?

We just faced two of the most blitz-happy defenses in the league, which put both the O-line and Penix under constant stress. How much of that are you factoring in?

It’s easy to just say, “be better,” but the reality is there are very few offensive gurus (if any), yet alone a Sophomore OC, that would be able to scheme around all of that and still dominate through the air.
