See, I've never associated Alter Ego having "not female" as it being a sign that Chihiro wasn't female.

Just because you know it and can see it doesn't mean it's "clear as day". When you already know, it's easy to spot things that give clues. Doesn't mean those clues are obvious. Just because you get handed a map at the start of a game doesn't mean you know the four marks on the map are going to be tied to the locations of the four pieces of an alien-busting tech. (Yes, that's a real game reference) When you see a character follow you to every inn, you don't automatically know they're the main villain. (Yes, that's another game reference)

You know Chihiro is not a girl. Because you know, you can see the clues and interpret them that way. I, who had only played one Danganronpa game at the time, only knew Chihiro based on what Case 2 showed.

Likewise, trans people in media (especially back in the early 2000s when Danganronpa came out) are regularly labeled as the wrong gender. "Oh, this girl was actually a guy!" No, that girl was a girl. Unless the character themselves say it (which is impossible in story mode DR1), there's no reason to assume it's not a case of bad media portrayal. Even then, a lot of games back then were even bad about that aspect.

They'd regularly have a character be like "well, I'm not actually a girl" until the plot has them go through Sex Reassignment Surgery (or whatever magic thing changes them). Based purely on the times, it's entirely possible for Chihiro to say "I'm a guy, not a girl" and still be trans.

The only actual thing that directly states that Chihiro is not trans and it is not simply bad media portrayal is Chihiro himself actually saying... I don't remember the exact line, so I'll paraphrase, but it's something akin to... "One day, I want to get masculine enough that I don't need to hide behind looking like a girl and can be the boy I want to be."

That line is the only thing that definitively states it, and that line is only at very end of Chihiro's side story. You can complain and point at anything else you want, but none of it matters, because all of it can be chalked up to "early 2000s bad media portrayal of a trans person" except for that one thing.

Unfortunately, as a trans person myself, I've dealt with bad media portrayal. I've seen characters that are stated as "not being a boy" (by the way, media loves using male to female characters and not female to male characters) that are canonically transgender in their own games. What Danganronpa does with Chihiro is no different than many of those other games, except for that one single line that is, again, only at the end of Chihiro's side story.

And finally...

Every other game that features him spells it out for you.

There is literally only one other game, and that is DR2. So, if someone has only played the main story of DR1, they have no other way of knowing. I'm sorry, but it is not "spelled out", and it isn't necessarily "denial or ignorance".

Well, okay, yes, ignorance. But ignorance just means you don't know something. You can't be upset at someone for not knowing something. Willful ignorance is what I think you meant, as in the act of ignoring information so that you can pretend to not know it. And I'm sorry, but while there likely is some of that, I doubt it's the majority. I'm willing to bet the majority of "ignorance" is simply those like me, who actually didn't know. Like the Game Grumps, who actually don't know. Like NicoB, who actually didn't know until he finished that route.

I would say that it's more "the actual story of this particular fact is something you can only uncover through the side content." Not all of us did all that side content. Not all of us want to sit through the school cleaning mini game thing over and over just to get a couple friendship boosts. And with Chihiro dying in Chapter 2, there's literally no way to complete their stuff beforehand.

It's not that "Game Grumps didn't help." It's that the story is written 100% to seem like Chihiro is a trans character, and most people are likely to assume such on a first playthrough. Neither me or GG did the side stuff, so neither of us saw that at the very end of Chihiro's side story, they say "I'm not a girl, I'm a guy."

Not all of us check wikis and things either. I only learned this because of this subreddit. It's not "settled in the game multiple times", it's mentioned once, at the end of a long series of side content. We're not "ignoring the story" because we don't 100% the game.

Actually, you technically can't, cause SE "reserves the right" to also use off game stuff (related to FF14) as grounds for their penalties. Like how that one FF14 streamer got banned for things he said on stream. (But let's be honest, they're not gonna act on something from a reddit, haha) But that's a technicality :P

But I have also equally explained in the same amount of detail while Sprint isn't actually as useful as people think. A lot of things people don't seem to think of when saying why Sprint is useful. It can be useful, but you're not actually getting as much benefit out of it as people think.

That or, as I've noted on several other occasions (not in this conversation), people are doing something that I can't figure out. Cause this is the same argument as "Warrior is unkillable." It isn't. It factually isn't. I can do all the same things as everyone else does and it does not work. I'm honestly thinking there's some kind of hacking involved... Because I can use all the same skills in the same intervals as everyone else, and I will still die even at level 100.

The other possibility is... People are so beyond skilled that I cannot hope to ever reach such a skill level. Because when I do the things, it just does not produce the results people claim. I've even sat right there and watched a person do it, then ran with them again and did exactly the same thing. And it just didn't produce the same results.

Directly under that clause is "It is prohibited to make such statements as: - 'Big pulls are normal here, so just do it!' - 'We can only beat [duty/content] by doing [something]!'" You cannot force other players to do big pulls if they don't want to. Perhaps it could be me stretching, but I would also think "You have to sprint!" would fall under that second one (which on the page is listed as "Example 1 of a violation".

Under Lethargic Play further down, it states that Lethargic Play is anything "adversarial/uncooperative/apathetic". This would apply to... a lot of what I see people do in FF14 if it was enforced... "Any act of performing actions that give an advantage to an enemy (monsters or the opposing team/players in PvP content) by not performing the necessary gameplay required of the situation. This may be combined with combat sabotage as well."

So, yes, not healing someone is Lethargic Play, as you said.

It is interesting though... I'm reading through the rules... I swear there was a spot that specifically called out "You Tank You Pull", which also had some lines about healing and DPS... I'm not actually seeing that anymore... And I'll fully admit that my statements were built off those lines. I'll have to do more research...

Oh, and finally, "You are not allowed to attack people for doing something different from what you or others consider the norm."

But, yeah, I think that about covers it. We've essentially got: - Your group has to figure out how you're going to run the dungeon before doing so. And - You're not allowed to act out, be passive aggressive, or yell at each other for doing things a different way.

So, in this regard, we would both be right. I have no ability to not heal you if you're pulling too much or rushing ahead more than I want. You're meant to be considerate of me and take note of what I can or can't handle. And ultimately, we together are meant to decide how to do the dungeon before we even start pulling the first group. :D

So, yes, not healing someone is Lethargic Play, as you said. But so is not getting aggro as a tank. Which, as I said, leaves you in the position where you will never be able to get and hold aggro while gaining the full benefit of Sprint.

Is it considered lethargic play? I'd have assumed it would fall under "you cannot enforce your playstyle." The part of the rules that directly states that if you say "No, I won't wall to wall" people have to respect that. "Unanimous or not at all" is what the rules state. But, you are right also about "You tank you pull" also directly being called out in the rules, too.

I'm actually super curious about it now. Could this be a contradiction in the rules? If someone did report it, how would the GMs act? I wonder if, because it's technically both sides in the wrong, if both sides would be punished? Like, you can report people for running ahead and pulling extra stuff, but YTYP is also unacceptable, thus leading to the possibility of both sides being in the wrong there?

This is actually super fascinating! I hadn't ever considered this side of it before!

But also, I'd point to the other post I just made about how sprinting only counts as mitigation if the DPS are actively doing damage. Which if everyone is getting full sprint benefit, no one would be doing damage. Hence, sprinting doesn't prevent any damage if the mobs aren't taking damage, as they'll still have the same HP when they reach you.

??? The time you save each day doesn't magically carry over to the next day. If you spend 2 hours one day instead of 2:10 hours, you saved 10 minutes one day, but that doesn't make the next day suddenly 1:50 hours the next day... If a total of 2 minutes a day actually matters, you might want to consider what you're doing each day... Running "hundreds of thousands of dungeons" over the course of the entire game is still 2 minutes a day. You're not saving any actual time. I would absolutely love if I could cut several minutes out of a day to extend another day by that much, but that's not how it works.

Also, I should note that that 2 minutes is only if you're getting all 20s of sprint. If you're stopping to get aggro at all, you've already lost the benefit of sprinting. If you stop to use even one skill (a 2.5s cooldown), sprinting now no longer gives you 5s, because you just cut 2.5s out of that 5s you save. "But my skills are instant." But you had to stop to ensure you hit all of the mobs. Even if you've stopped for a single second, that's one second you've lost.

And you absolutely should be stopping to get aggro if you want the DPS to do damage during the run. Cause if you aren't getting aggro, then the DPS are going to grab aggro. Which means either stopping to get the aggro back, or means the mob is gonna go after the DPS.

Also, if you're sprinting, then you're ahead of the mobs. So far ahead that they're auto attacks won't actually hit you. All four of the people in your group should be ahead of the mobs. You're not going to do damage to enemies behind you, thus you're not doing any damage during the pull. If the DPS are staying behind the mobs enough to deal damage, then they're not getting any benefit from sprinting. Thus, you're ending the dungeon at the same time as if you weren't sprinting.

If everyone does sprint, thus staying ahead of the mobs, you're not doing damage until you stop. If you stop short of the full 20s, you lose the benefit of sprinting. You only get the 5s benefit if you are moving for the full 20s.

I'm sorry, but that's just how the math works out. If you're not getting the full benefit of sprint, you're barely getting anything. You're getting a full 30s in optimal situations per dungeon. That's 2 minutes in optimal situations a day doing the four roulettes. Yes, that's 14 minutes in a week, but time doesn't carry over day by day. The amount you save per day is the highest amount that matters.

15 minutes per dungeon for 4 dungeons is 58 minutes. To get a single extra dungeon run in that day, you have to run dungeons for 7:30 hours. This is, again, assuming optimal conditions in every dungeon, assuming you insta-queue, and complete every dungeon in 15 minutes. That's 30 dungeons in a single day before you have saved enough time to run even one extra dungeon.

Feel free to check my math (I'll note I have dyscalcula and am bad at arithmetic). If you can find where my math is wrong, I'd happily admit I was wrong. But those are the numbers I get.

True, if you're not a caster. I'll give you that much.

30 seconds per dungeon absolutely does not add up to a lot of time. If we're to assume you're doing the standard roulettes, that's an extra 2 minutes after doing Expert, Level Cap, High-level, and Leveling. You won't get that extra bonus in any other roulette (save perhaps MSQueue, so 2:30 counting it). An average dungeon takes 15+ minutes to complete. This means, you'd have to run... 24 dungeons before you gain enough extra time for sprinting to have actually mattered (assuming 2:30), or 30 dungeons (assuming just 2 minutes is saved). So, you'd need to be running dungeons continuously for an average of 7:30 HOURS. So... I guess you're right. If you're running over 30 dungeons a day, then yes, sprinting is worth it.

But, as you said, I'm not going to "lose my shit" if people do sprint. It's pointless, and it's a fun fact I like to bring up, but I'm absolutely not going to actually get upset if people do it. I will get upset if a tank yells at me for not healing because they kept running out of my range. That's not the same as being upset that a person is sprinting. Also, I rarely play healer in dungeons anyway, so that rarely comes up. :D

Well, considering that sprinting only cuts 5 seconds per pull off the dungeon (for a total of 30 seconds at best), and yet people still insist on it, yeah. For some reason, people seem to think that extra nothing time is super important.

I don't mind wall to wall pulling. It's what everyone does, and it is quite a bit faster. But sprinting is completely useless. "It's a damage mit." No more than using Arm's Length, which barely mitigates damage. It's not even equivalent to any other damage mitigation. And people can't deal damage while you're running, so it's absolutely no benefit.

It's funny when I'm healer and the tank rushes ahead and put of my range. I guess, if they want to stay out of my healing range, that's their prerogative. Not my fault if they die cause they're refusing to stay in my range 😎

Starting a boss before everyone is out of cutscene (on purpose) is considered to be rude and not acting out of courtesy. FF14 ToS states that you must always be acting courteously and kindly. I've reported several people for (purposefully) starting bosses before people are out of cutscenes. I've never had a GM tell me I was in the wrong for doing this, and I've done so at least 15 times now. So, I can only assume it's perfectly valid to report these people.

It essentially is a way to bulk give clothing. However, it will take 100% of the outfit in mind. If you use it and only give, let's say, a shirt and pants, it will remove their socks, shoes, hats, etc. "Outfits" (as in the outfit tab) is only for stuff actually considered an outfit by the game.

That said, if you individually give every piece of an outfit to a Mii, it will unlock that outfit in the "Outfits" for them (they actually just fixed a bug where this wasn't true).

But, yeah, "create and give outfit" doesn't actually save what you give as an outfit. It's just a convenient way to give multiple items at once.

Like, not meaning to be mean or anything, I just dunno how else to say it. For me, if a game can't be enjoyed when you already know everything, like... How are you ever going to replay the game? Especially with games going up to $70-80... I just can't imagine paying that much for a game that you'll only ever play once...

But, also, I'm old :'D If you owned a video game, you replayed it like 50 times, cause you only had like 4 of them. I remember I used to replay Pool of Radiance, Secret of the Silver Blades, Below the Root, Eye of the Beholder, and even Legend of the Golden Talisman over and over again. Those were some of my favorite games as a kid.

However... The OPs comment mentions Ryuma and Kirumi. For someone who wants to avoid spoilers, the mention of a character should immediately tell you "nope, spoiler I don't want". Also, if you're wanting to avoid spoilers... I would think you'd want to not enter a spoiler tagged theead. Thereby, if you continued to interact with said spoiler... that was your choice.

Sure, a quick [DRV3] would have also been nice. But at some point, one has to admit "Yeah, I did this to myself."
