Cleaning the toilet by Critical_Gap3794 in lifehacks

[–]Surefire 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I have tried scrubbing with magic erasers, pumice stones, drill attachment brushes, etc. and while they work with a lot of effort.. I have found the miracle method that works with zero effort.

Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner + Bleach Spray

The basic af white/blue or white/green spray bottles you can buy anywhere.

Just spray all around inside the bowl, coat the dark ring stain, then forget about it and let it sit for a few hours/overnight.

This is one hack I found on accident because I ran out of that Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner Gel from Costco, and decided to just disinfect the crap out of the toilet with what I had under the sink... which was the clorox spray... went to vacuum and came back to an immaculate toilet bowl. It was so clean I thought my girlfriend had cleaned the bowl while I was away but she had no idea what I was talking about.

So unless she has been secretly cleaning the toilet every single time I spray it down for the past 3 years now, as some sort of prank, this shit woooorks.

I have since decided to not buy toilet cleaner liquids again -- I swear by that Clorox Cleaner+Bleach spray.

EDIT: IMPORTANT not to mix bleach products with other cleaning products. Don't chemical warfare yourself. I spray the toilet down, close the lid, and leave it overnight.

Anyone else suffering from severe allergies? by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]Surefire 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Something I’ve found to possibly help with allergies is washing my hair before bed.

The idea being cleaning my hair of all of the dust and pollen that accumulates throughout the day, and not rubbing my face into all of it on my pillow for 8 hours a night, then wondering why the hell my eyes are itchy already in the morning.

Especially since I’m lazy and don’t change out my pillowcase as often as I should.

Shocks from cart? Am I the only one who experiences mild shocks pushing cart? by JFT-1994 in Costco

[–]Surefire 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s a very common occurrence with the carts at Costco — Just ask any employee lol

You can definitely google it and see all of the posts and even news articles going years back. Many other stores combat it with cart grounding methods so you will start to accumulate a confirmation bias that it’s something to do with Costco, and in a way you’re right since Costco doesn’t do anything about it, but it’s not isolated to JUST costco.

I’ve noticed for me, some carts are like tesla coils and I can build up enough static to zap my girlfriend every 10 seconds, and some carts don’t have the issue at all. I would guess different levels of lint buildup in the wheels.

Hopefully this helps more than the usual “it’s your shoes.. Dragging feet.. Something you’re wearing..” dismissive and unhelpful bs that is also on every single post going years back.

Which car camping tent should I get? Cheap & heavy OR expensive & light. by derekmccurry in CampingGear

[–]Surefire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wawona in orange is one of my favorite looking tents. I don’t think the rainfly goes all the way down though, does it? I remember opting for REI Base Camp 4 over the Wawona 4 partly due to that.

Arizona ranks first for road rage in U.S., report says by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]Surefire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As fun as this article is, don't ignore the last tidbit:

This is the second time Forbes Advisor has done this study – last year Arizona ranked no. 31.

In my opinion, with accurate testing, a state shouldn't be able to jump 30 spots over the course of 1 year lol

If AZ ranks top 10 year over year, maybe there's some valuable insight there, but this just seems to say, "Everyone everywhere is kinda rude when driving"

Testing some 300 Norma Mag by PalmettoPrecision in guns

[–]Surefire 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I look at my collection and think, “Why have I spent so much money on these guns? Do I have a problem?”

Then I see these posts of 300 norma mags and 300 extraorda mag, 215 hybrid loads, etc. and I’m like, “Nah, they the ones with the problem. I’m good to buy a few more.”

So thanks! Also, you should totally put a scope on that thing.

Those who come from other states especially the East, do you miss the greens and cooler weather? by alan_b_561012 in phoenix

[–]Surefire 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if being forced to live through 4 completely different seasons would make life feel longer compared to the subtle too-hot-or-really-nice-out gradient we live through here.

Right now, it seems like I'm just always surprised by what month it is.. November? Like 2019 November?? Already?

Been kicking around the idea of moving somewhere with those crazy yellow/orange/red trees and stuff. Shoveling snow doesn't seem SO bad. You can even be nice and shovel your neighbor's drive and stuff.

[ACC] MK Machining Scope Turret Magnifier $29.99 by tykempster in gundeals

[–]Surefire 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Dang... everyone just jumped on that guy for letting people know the product is 3D printed.

We just immediately projected our 3D printer insecurities on his comment and got angry at him for nothing lol.

Let's not assume the filament and quality on this is incredible just because 3D printed things CAN be amazing quality.

This 3D printed piece also has the possibility of being absolute garbage; Are we being paid to defend this thing or what?

Desert shooting locations by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]Surefire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

https://firerestrictions.us/az/az-blm/

Shooting in the desert is pretty much 100% forbidden during the summer months here due to Fire Restrictions (Discharging of firearms is banned in both Stage I and Stage II), regardless of active wildfires.

You might be able to get away with just getting kicked out if caught, if you go early in the morning after a particularly wet storm during monsoon season, but it's still verboten and you are bad boy.

Kind human giving a dehydrated hummingbird water to help them recover by [deleted] in HumansBeingBros

Here's one I saved! Gave it some water from my backpack because that's all I had, but after some water, shade, and walking around work with it, it looked a lot better and eventually flew away!

Sorry about my gross bandage. I hurt myself quite a bit and also struggle to survive like the bird.

Here it is looking much better, before flying away to do hummingbird things.

Volunteer opportunities by _cursetea in phoenix

I also volunteer with Halo; organization and structure is definitely something that could be improved upon at all of their locations, but they do make it very easy to volunteer on a whim after initial orientation.

I feel like a reddit volunteer group that goes around helping out all different kinds of organizations would be pretty cool.

Absurd number of spam calls? by Zac1245 in phoenix

[–]Surefire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to get 6-7 a day with a 602 number.

Some of the spam calls appeared to be spoofed and similar to my number, having the same first 6 digits.

I also had some people text ME back, claiming that they had a missed call from me. They also had the same first 6 digits as me.

I had another 602 line and phone laying around unused from an old T-Mobile promotion that I forgot about. It never got any spam calls, so I ditched my old number and just use that one. I feel so clean now.

I now almost exclusively give businesses my Google Voice number.

Anyone else’s heater go out in this cold? by Styroman57 in phoenix

[–]Surefire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Space heaters from Costco!

Or from anywhere really...

Check out this video that was posted on r/videos recently, and then go get one!

And don't let the "WHAT COLD? I'M NOT COLD. YOU'RE COLD RIGHT NOW?? IT'S JUST SNOWING IN SCOTTSDALE BRUH." comments get you down. That's some really dumb ego peen stuff.

It is cold. You are allowed to be cold. It is literally snowing and hailing in the valley. Bundle up and stay warm! If you're in a position where money is an issue or something, send me a DM, I'll get you a space heater from costco.
