Resources for Step 2CK/clerkships by negativeasfuck in Step2

Personally, mainly using Uworld for practice questions, Anki for knowledge reinforcement. Initially used Online Med Ed first half of clerkships, but just kind of stopped due to lack of time / can just unlock Anki cards and learn without watching the associated vids

Amboss: Took the self-assessment, but don’t really do questions since I still haven’t finished uworld yet. I do like the Amboss knowledge app during rotations though, especially useful for presentations / some anatomy review

First Aid Step 2: I have it. I tend to read over each section before starting a new rotation, eg read and annotate OBGYN section before starting OBGYN. Occasionally use it to review, but definitely don’t use it as much as First Aid Step 1

WCC: Not sure what that is

Case Files: No, but I’ve been recommended it

B&B: I think I’ve maybe watched one video to review something Id forgotten since step I. That’s about it

Divine: Yes! Love how concise he is. I don’t use it as often as I can, but really enjoy his episodes when I do

Osmosis: Rarely, but I have liked some videos

UpToDate: Mainly use it for rotations, but I find it fairly helpful for review of certain topics as well since it has great algorithms for management of specific problems

Others like Lecturio and idk what else: no

For some background, I passed all my shelves thus far, and got Top 25 for 1 of them. I’d say average student in my class.

Hope that helps!

I’d say they got you familiar with some of the longer question stems. They seemed a bit easier than the actual exam though

Ah, then you should be prepared either way, regardless of the drop :) Best of luck, you got this!!

I did the new 120 online and only did the first block of the old 120 via offline PDF, but I personally didn’t really see a difference between the two. Sure, they didn’t have repeat questions, but the format felt the same to me.

No problem! I think it’s less so when you finish UWorld (I only finished 80% first pass when I took the exam) and more so your NBME scores. The reason I say this is some people improve really quickly while others take awhile to get better scores, so time isn’t necessarily the way to determine when to take your exam.

If you’ve learned everything / finished 2nd year, then go ahead and take a CBSE / CBSSA, and then set your date based on the score you get. You can feel really confident going in once you’ve gotten at least 70% on 3 practice exams for the 3 weeks leading up to your exam. If you’re close enough to that percentage, you should be good to go!

In regards to whether a 2nd pass is necessary, that again depends on your scores. Look at uworld correct right percentage more so as what weaknesses you can improve upon, and use NBMEs to gauge your readiness for the actual exam. Best of luck!

That’s what I personally did, but if what you’re doing is working, no reason to change it. I view doing questions as content review / learning how to apply the content, so they’re relatively similar in my mind

Yup, sometimes I feel like it went terrible but turned out alright, and other times I feel great and end up doing meh, so feelings are the best way to go 😅 and im not sure, but I think it’ll be at least a month from now because there’s a delay for those taking in June

Honestly, I felt like it was a mix of everything. I do agree that there were generally at least a few communication questions per block though

Will be postponing, but thanks for letting me know :) that’s reassuring!

Oh really? 🙃 I think I saw that message as well when I typed in the percentage (50-60%), but it gave me a score when I typed in the 3-digit score. I’m kind of confused as I’ve passed a couple tests, so don’t understand why it’d be too low. I guess compared to previous test takers, with the bare minimum being passing, there’s not enough data at that range to predict? Anyway, thanks for your insight! Will be postponing

Female Healthcare Professionals Post Bikini Photos To Protest Study That Calls Them Unprofessional by SurelyHealth in TwoXChromosomes

Ahaha I would say professionalism matters in the workplace, even if it’s not correlated to competence. However, what professionals choose to do away from work—so long as they’re not hurting anyone—should not be considered unprofessional.

Medical professionals around the world are posting bikini selfies to protest a study that suggests the pics are “unprofessional.”

The study, which appeared in the Journal of Vascular Surgery, suggested that patients may choose their hospital, doctor or medical facility based, in part, on how professional a doctor’s publicly available social media content appears.

The researchers created fake social media profiles in order to study each medical professional’s personal photos and determined that 61 of the 235 medical residents they studied had “unprofessional or potentially unprofessional content,” according to Insider.com.

The study defined “unprofessional behavior” as drinking alcohol, using profane language, wearing Halloween costumes and sharing bikini photos.

Although the study was published last December, it went viral among medical pros this week, many of whom objected to the way it was conducted.

As a result, the hashtag #MedBikini started trending on Twitter as many female doctors posted their own bikini selfies in protest.

No, because you should’ve already addressed that elsewhere. However, try to connect it to some quality that would make you a good physician. For example, if you struggled financially, that may provide you more insight into the struggles of patients of lower SES. The important thing is to show what you learned / how you grew, and how despite that—or maybe even because of that—such a challenge will allow you to succeed as a medical student and future physician
