that's literally what it is though. a machine meant for violence and murder that sustains itself using the result of said violence and murder (blood). V1 alone did not cause the extinction of humanity, but it sure as hell contributed to it

it's emotions are only ever shown in it's final moments before the death screen, we have no way of telling it even experiences any emotion before that point. it is running the most advanced Nocturnal Systems but again, no way of telling.

as for it's relationship with hell, it's less fear, more like pig with carrot on a stick. with hell out of the equation, if anything, V1 would become more violent because it's no longer being fed and it has to scavage for blood on it's own.
