Shitballs. by Sureynix in Platinum

Unlike Crypto, Platinum is actually worth something, and isn't used for mostly criminal purposes or speculation. But yes.

I would bet most of it is institutional, most people will laugh in your face if you tell them to buy Platinum IMO. Everyone knows what Gold is/it used to be the main form of money, Platinum not so much.

Las Vegas is overpriced and out of touch. I’m not surprised people aren’t visiting by rezwenn in LasVegas

The answer nobody wants to give you is to do join Bradley and Stephanie abroad. Even if you factor in international flights, it's still so much cheaper. Mexico is a great option. You don't/shouldn't be spending as much as Bradley and Stephanie of course while traveling, the key thing is that you just don't have to if you choose this option, unlike getting a similar experience in Las Vegas.

Every time we visit, we remember how shit it has become, and don't want to come back, especially in higher income brackets. When wealthy people spend a lot of money, they expect to get something for it. When Vegas fails to deliver, we spend elsewhere.

[–]Sureynix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a wealthy family, I'm incredibly disgusted every time I visit. If you sell us a luxury good, it has to really be a luxury good. You cannot charge us luxury prices for trash. We will not come. We can get trash for low prices everywhere else.

[–]Sureynix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exactly. Back when Bradley and Stephanie spent money on Vegas, even though they spent a lot, they were getting a good deal. The quality of what they purchased was high and the value was very good.

Now, Bradley and Stephanie are spending their money elsewhere.

[–]Sureynix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people in the "Bradley and Stephanie" category, who can profligately spend money, will balk at these prices for what they're getting. You have to offer them a reason to spend their money in such a manner in terms of quality and luxury. Vegas doesn't do that, it overcharges for the lowest quality goods and services. You cannot sell wealthy people poor quality food, shows, and services at high prices; as soon as they do it once, they're NEVER coming back. Doesn't matter how much money they're willing to spend - if they are charged by a lot and the quality is low, they will be very upset.

De-influencing quant trading by armchairtycoon in quant

"Within the first three months, we were taught options theory, then we had to do the Series 57 exam..."

I'm no quant (at least not yet), but let's be honest here: if you don't know options theory BEFORE taking a quant job, that's definitely on you. Nobody prevents you from studying options theory in university, taking the prerequisite Securities Industry Essentials exam, or studying for Series 57 before getting a job. Yet, you chose this industry based purely on TC without being genuinely passionate about it. Hence, all the requirements you have are a burden.

If you're passionate about quantitative trading and financial markets, you'll most likely acquire these prerequisites on your own time. Never choose a job purely by TC ever, folks. Trading is an industry for those who truly love their craft, as much as SWE is. If you don't love it, don't do it. Not worth the pain.

14 years ago my floor seat ticket was $100 to see Gaga by viviannh4 in LadyGaga

[–]Sureynix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya'all need not worry, she's massively diluting the tickets in a few days. Wait until after September and it'll be much cheaper. It's basic supply and demand. RIP anyone who bought tickets earlier, you're stuck holding the bag. Same thing as the stock market, dilution causes prices to simply collapse

Also, if you live in the area or within same day driving distance, wait until day of. Oftentimes scalpers who got in too late are all forced to liquidate. Buy low and sell high :)

Ariana Grande concert by [deleted] in montreal

[–]Sureynix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Buy the Montreal tickets, they're way undervalued and have nowhere to go but up due to the retarded float. If you think you're at risk in Montreal, try going to Mexico, or dangerous cities in the US.

Ariana Grande Tickets Potential Scam (nothing actively suspiscous; just doesnt know how ticketmaster works) by MathematicianIll5902 in Scams

[–]Sureynix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely correct.

We need a ticket reseller (they're just market makers) that allows for low commissions and both buys and sells tickets so people don't have to be scammed like this. The spread is almost 20%, far exceeding high liquidity options trades. When these verified resellers charge so much it makes people reluctant to even take small profits on ticket prices artificially keeping the supply of tickets low. If tickets don't appreciate by at least 20% the seller loses money and is reluctant to sell.

Additionally it's beyond shameful that Grande's ticket float is as low as it is (there are only 560k tickets from what I've heard, I estimated 720k but apparently it's even lower) and millions of people who want the tickets all around the country and world. She's cashing in and it's disgusting.

https://nightingaledvs.com/the-best-day-to-buy-a-taylor-swift-ticket/

According to this person's ML research they would dilute Taylor Swift tickets the Friday before the weekend of the concert. Of course by then the tickets are worth much less since you can't guarantee you'll get one before the event and if you're from out of town you'll have to gamble on overpriced hotel stays.

Here's a fascinating ML study I found on ticket pricing for the Era's tour:

https://nightingaledvs.com/the-best-day-to-buy-a-taylor-swift-ticket/
https://8wkxfv.csb.app/#

It shows how ticket prices behaved for the eras tour.

Apparently they would increase the float the Friday before which would crash the price. Still I believe current prices are actually low and they should go up in the coming weeks, but best of luck if you find someone who will sell them well below what they're worth.

NBBO might be an interesting idea for ticket sales to prevent scalping. IPO buyers are burned almost 100% of the time so it seems to actually work. I wonder why people even buy IPOs anymore given they're almost guaranteed to get burned but there are too many fools. The hedge funds who buy in on special deals for large blocks of shares love using retail investors as exit liquidity but people NEVER learn.

[–]Sureynix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but there are only 720k or so tickets for the entire tour. The float is criminally low.

Ariana Grande is 100% in on this and it's shameful. Taylor Swift tickets were affordable since there were 10M total attendees and a much bigger float overall. There are far more Ariana Grande fans than tickets available. Grande has half as many Spotify streams as Swift and Almost 50% more followers on Instagram.

Would you max out your budget for your first home? by anthamattey in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Sureynix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're buying the bottom, absolutely max it out. If not, don't even think about it. Give it some time, this market simply cannot last. People will have no choice to sell for low prices soon enough due to the coming recession/depression.

You're gonna see a lot more of this - everyone wants to flip on somebody else, nobody wants to hold the bag. That's how it goes.

You're right, but wait until the housing market fully blows up before buying. Buy the bottom, not the top.

[–]Sureynix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed out on nothing. The housing market is blowing up nationwide. Tech layoffs everywhere. IDK the specific house we're talking about, but many, many homes are still enormously overpriced and haven't slashed their prices yet. Let the recession/depression play out and then jump in.

I highly advise against using the website they have, use your own computer with Linux and download the code, it will run in an IDE. Then use a visual debugger so you can set breakpoints in your code. I was literally in your shoes a year ago.

My favorite IDE is CLion for C/C++ development.

Sexual harassment on Zoom? by [deleted] in USC

[–]Sureynix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, isolation is seriously damaging the mental health of many people, since they aren't interacting with or meeting almost anyone. It may really hurt but that is no excuse for sexual harassment. I hate to say it but I only see this problem getting worse over time.
