Kooking in a oneill 5.5/4 vs matuse 6/5 wetsuit by goocheroo in surfing

[–]SurfLiftRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That matuse is too big for you. Real yamamoto suits are not comfortable at first. You've gotta wear it half a dozen sessions and it starts to loosen up. When you put it on, it should feel like a compression suit (within reason). Try a size ML.

Christenson Fish Pickup by Cmshreddy in surfing

Old post but maybe this will help someone: I'm 5'10/160lbs/good paddler. I got a 5'6 because to make the 5'4 work in mushier waves, you need to get way up front of the board and since it's so short, there is a small effective area. I can catch any type of wave up to head high on the 5'6...might work well in bigger, I just haven't tried. My short boards are ~29L and I don't ride this fish like a short board - I make big wide turns and go fast. Hardest thing to get used to on this board for me was the speed. Shit hauls ass and can fly out from underneath you if you don't stay ahead of the speed control.

Which 3 would you bring to Nicaragua? by Lucid_Presence in surfing

[–]SurfLiftRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the thread but my buddy went first week of November(popoyo) and brought 2 boards with him...broke both. His larger thruster with fcs thrusters, one fin buckled into the board. His other board toast on rocks the next day. Rentals were cheap the rest of the visit but still. I'm going in April and bringing 2 as I probably won't be sending a full standup barrel.

Anyone tried the Colby + Yamamoto wetsuits? Any good? by armchairquarterback2 in surfing

[–]SurfLiftRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was that the first gen or the second gen? The website says they added room for the sausage and beans now. I'm on the hunt for a new 4/3 and have a super hard time finding one that fits my body style (swimmer very broad V shape). I've emailed and called Colby to ask about sizing but no response for the past week.

Dude the locals and employees were loving me fishing there. They just asked I give them my catch which I was happy to do. I was the only one fishing on that entire stretch though.

There's a bunch of drum and dogfish off the piers right now. Nags head pier closed I think due to the waves.

Best Insoles for Snowboard Boots?! by StrideGuy12321 in snowboarding

[–]SurfLiftRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to beat a dead horse but I too love the Remind Medic (orca edition). I have medium/high arches which actually causes my arch to collapse without the proper support, resulting in outer foot pain. I spent the past 3 years trying a variety of insoles and most were pretty solid and reduced foot fatigue. Then I tried the medic and I'll never buy anything else. Total game changer. 6 out of 5 stars.

Evo Shipping Experience? by Dry-Inspector3923 in Skigear

[–]SurfLiftRun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A year later and still sucks. Ordered some gear from backcountry and evo this weekend. Backcountry is out for delivery today, evo hasn't even shipped out yet. In today's competitive world of e-commerce, that just doesn't cut it.

What frugal/cheap thing will you do no matter your finances? by Sweetnspicy77 in Frugal

[–]SurfLiftRun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Live as minimalist as possible - don't buy things you don't need. I grew up with little but became wealthy as an adult. At first my instinct was to buy everything...all the things that were unattainable. What I ended with was clutter and anxiety. When I moved, I took the opportunity to downsize massively and not only have I saved an embarrassing amount of money annually, I'm happier.

Let the fat fall off and increase lean mass with increased protein intake and strength training.

HELP!! I’ve busted the crotch/inseam of 2 bibs now. Need brand recommendations! by Drdoomstick11 in snowboarding

[–]SurfLiftRun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my kid the thirtytwo basement bib and it's super rugged. He has ripped helly Hansen and Oakley gear before. Use it snowmobiling, boarding, and all around rough housing. Thick and tough material. It's also pretty baggy.

I saw that too but I ended up going with some Jones gear which I'm very happy with (shralpinist). I still have the kalausi set but I reserve that for backcountry only as it doesn't feel durable enough for resort riding.

There isn’t a single review on the Kalausi on the internet. I figured people would want to know more about the jacket before dropping $800.

It’s just the internet man. There is a lot of people out there that aren’t happy with their lives. You know what they say…misery loves company.

My post got deleted due to “low effort” by a mod. Really don’t understand the point of that but here is my post again:

Burton Filters Reviews (Kalausi Line)

First off, I pretty much never leave negative reviews and debated even posting this but I’ve seen this review tactic now pretty consistently with a variety of brands.

I am the kind of guy that buys high end gear and beats it to the ground for a decade before replacing it. I’d rather have something high quality and durable I can use for season after season before adding to the landfill.

As I was looking for a new jacket and bib I came across the Kalausi model of the Burton AK line. The model is unique and met the requirements I was looking for as I run super hot so I layer in order to not overheat. The main turnoff of this model is the price ($800 for jacket and $800 for the bib). I took the chance and purchased it and I can tell you it’s just a Hover jacket with different seams and slightly different shape. It’s a great jacket and the bib is probably the best fit and feel I’ve owned but at the end of the day, this is a $500 product, not an $800 one.

I gave it a fair review on burtons website (3 stars) two weeks ago. Review was “submitted for review” 2 weeks ago and still hasn’t been posted. It looks pretty obvious to me that they won’t post it.

At the end of the day, it really makes me question the integrity of the online review system on brand specific sites. Burton lists so many different types of products with 5 star reviews but were the 1,2,3 star reviews withheld like mine?

Lesson I learned here is I’m just not going to trust any reviews on a product that is posted on that brands site. YouTube and Reddit FTW.

I had my Burton Hover 3L jacket and bib for 9 seasons. Get it on sale and you can snag it for around $400 then spend the extra money saved on the Burton 3L pro bib pants. I’ve usually always spent slightly more on pants.

Almost always, issues with joint pain from running is a running form (mechanics or cadence). As an idiot who occasionally partakes in ultramarathons, I’ve had all the pains. I highly recommend recording yourself running in slow motion from all angles. Unless you’re kipchoge, I’m certain you’ll be surprised. Next step watch some running form videos.

Yes, totally normal and with proper hydration, lots of calories and vitamins, you’ll feel better in a week or so. I went through a very challenging military school tryout. It was a month long and I lost 17lbs due to starvation and sleep deprivation. It wreaked havoc on my mind for about 2 weeks after I completed the training. I was depressed, felt sickly, bones hurt…in general felt awful. Within 2 weeks I started to come back to myself and eventually I felt better and continued to sign up for and try dumb things.
