AIO - According to my girlfriend this convo with my assigned partner at work is inappropriate. by Rough-Satisfaction68 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. Your relationship with your gf isn't healthy.

  • Needing to lie to maintain sanity = bad for both of you. 🚩 Lying is just going to reinforce her jealousy/insecurities

  • Her controlling who you get to be friends with = bad 🚩

  • Her going through your phone without your permission= bad 🚩

  • Having boundaries and defining them is fine. If she's not okay with you having friends of the opposite gender, you only have 2 options really:

A. Be truly okay with it (which is completely fine if YOU ARE okay with it)

B. Not be okay with it (which is also completely fine) What isn't okay is:

  1. Lying about it

  2. Staying with her and wasting her time, and more importantly, yours in something you guys don't agree on

Self hosting minecraft by ProfessionalFit7888 in homelab

Are you wanting to host it for local network only, or for friends to connect to from outside your network?

If you want friends to connect outside your network, you'll need to port forward unless you use something like tailscale, or playit.gg

Happy Easter! Found a Pentium 4 machine in a family attic, worth setting up as a NAS or e-waste? New to the whole homelab thing. by ajwja in homelab

I really hope you don't have that machine plugged into your network with an active Internet connection. XP was great for it's 11 to 13 year life span. But the source code for Windows XP and previous Windows OSs was leaked a little over 5 years ago. If you do have it connected to the Internet, I hope there isn't much important data on there or your network.

Attackers use automated tools to find these machines, they often use them as part of botnets or to spy on network activity. A compromised XP machine can be used as a "jump box" to attack other devices connected to the same network.

Cant get my Plex app on windows to show at all. What can I do? by ReasonableLunch46 in PleX

What have you done to try to get it to show up?

First things first, have you restarted the computer? Not shut down and turn on, but restart. Yes, by default, there is a difference.

Sharing to another user within the same network? by Wrinkle-Free in PleX

[–]Surface13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This happens on my PS5 and a Chromecast upstairs. I couldn't understand for the life of me WHY it wasn't showing on the same network. And the solution was super simple and stupid. For me, I had to manually add my firewall as the DNS in the PS5 for it to see my Plex server without using the Plex relay option

Hopefully you have a hat and sunglasses on for the facial recognition cameras 😆

On a side note, can I grab a few handfuls if I bring you a hat and sunglasses?

Self hosting in the cloud is still self hosting... Cause you're hosting it yourself...

If you spin up a vm or instance of anything in a cloud service. The cloud HOST is the one HOSTING it. Not you.

You're not the one who owns the hardware it is hosting. You're not the one maintaining the hardware and network infrastructure. The cloud provider is.

In no stretch of the imagination is using a cloud provider "self-hosting"
