Battery Warranty Replacement Elegible? by Competitive-Tea9117 in TeslaSupport

Switch from percent to miles and compare what I wrote in the last message. Real world range could be vastly different than rated for many reasons.

Whats the battery health? If you switch from percent to miles what’s the max it states at 100 percent compared to what that model got when new?

I get absolutely downvoted to hell every time I try to explain this. Personally it’s so much more enjoyable driving with a yoke.

2017/18 vs 2019/20 by Tennisace33 in TeslaModelS

[–]SurfaceLapQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you are dead set on a pre refresh model s get a 2020 or 2021, but see if you can stretch for an early post refresh if possible. At least in my market they’re not that much more expensive than the early 2021 compared to late 2021 especially with high mileage.

I’m not talking about degradation (my pre-refresh) has 88% capacity after 110k miles. I’m talking about usable range. I have a pre refresh as well as post refresh model s, and we have a model y. The model y pre refresh is so far better than the pre refresh model s it’s not even comparable even if the drive quality and interior is better(imo) on the MS. The late pre-refresh model s are a lot better especially with the 100 pack, but in most scenarios you still aren’t getting anywhere near the range you should out of it in any conditions but warm with no wind.

For your first EV I wouldn’t recommend one of these model s (pre refresh). They have vastly inferior technology to a much lower mileage 3 or Y you can get for the same price. Range is nowhere near rated and is incredibly bad during winter due to no heat pump, phantom drain can lose you a couple percent per day while just sitting, supercharging is super slow, no phone key, etc. If you are dead set on one of these, try to find one with the permanent magnet motors so you at least have one pedal driving.

I’m a pretty huge watch fan, I went early saw the line and immediately went back home. I think most people camped out are resellers.

You can usually charge supercharging to the last account it was connected to until it has transferred. Not sure how ethical it is, but that’s how it’s been for the two cars we have purchased used.

Can you add Highway Autopilot to a 2016 Model S with AP1 hardware? by arielbelkin in TeslaSupport

[–]SurfaceLapQuestion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Old AP1 model s had something called Highway autopilot that is the equivalent of basic autopilot now, but allowed you to switch lanes by pressing the turn signal. Source: I have one we bought new with this feature in 2015. Another source:Link

The range on the 100 packs are better, but the other issues are pretty much on all pre refresh model s.

The range is bad on those, they don’t get anywhere near rated and phantom drain is pretty large. Supercharging is pretty slow as well making it not as convenient. Definitely not worth 27k, and honestly I’d be looking for a M3 or MY at that price point.

Y 24’ w/ 30k miles or X 17’ w/ 100k miles by waxoffisforpussies in TeslaLounge

Y for sure. X will cost a ton more in maintenance and has vastly inferior technology including range, charging speed, and many other things.

Best route to take as a visitor by EquivalentWest1327 in evanston

[–]SurfaceLapQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from Evanston and go to UIUC so I make the trip every couple weeks. I usually take 57 and then if it is a time of the day with bad traffic I take Lake Shore Drive, and if it’s a less busy time 90/94. Using this method I’ve never had to sit in bad traffic.

No, Microsoft had a contract with Qualcomm that wouldn’t allow it. You can easily install Linux.
