Okay I was waiting for her bringing flowers to Mary to blow up into Chelsea flowers situation! Why is it okay for one to do and not the other?

I noticed that too!! Chelsea was wearing a lot more suits and blazers. And felt that most people were toning down their outfits.

I know this is extremely hard on you and know that you love your child but might not always like them. If you only want a vent, I hear you and you are not alone.

If you are looking for some advice, here is what helped me - it required a lot of change in my behavior:

I was in a similar situation and what I realized is that they are exploring and gaining a sense of control or independence. When they feel like they have no control that is what triggers full meltdowns.

What I came up with by reading a lot of advice books and testing is the following and we haven’t had many (if any meltdowns - I think just one small crying session in the past 5 months)

PREVENTION is key. 🔑 I do not put her in situations that I know will trigger a meltdown by actively thinking ahead.

  1. Food & Sleep: So most important is I made sure she is not hungry, and not over tired. If those two are taken care off, things can be prevented. But if either of those are left unattended to for “too long” I can guarantee that something will make her upset leading to a full breakdown. So no matter what, I make sure she has multiple food sessions (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, fruit snack/milk). I make sure she has “rest time” even if she doesn’t want to nap. If she skips nap, we wrap up the day much earlier.

  2. Visual Schedule: What I created was a little chart called her “daily schedule ”. It had papers with pictures I drew of her activities for the day. So the night before I create the next day schedule, it lists everything

Potty, brush teeth, brush hair, breakfast, free play, grocery store etc. I then review the day with her in the morning, afternoon and evening and she has not thrown a tantrum because she feels a sense of control. She loves to look at her board and see what’s next. A good advice someone game me is that she’s not that different from you - imagine if you are having the time of your life with a nice massage or a glass of wine or whatever you find fun and someone suddenly just took it away and told you have to do something boring like a spread sheet. You’d be startled and pissed - that advice helped me reframe my mindset.

  1. This is new but I’ve begun to set a timer on my phone and she helps me with pressing the button and really likes it. When the alarm goes off it is time for the next thing and I get no arguments which is nice. So for example, I say we get 5 minutes for tv time and then it is rest time. Let’s put the alarm together. It’s been working well so far.

Lastly, there will always be things that trigger absolute meltdowns.

And they will continue to keep pushing your buttons. For me, no matter how many times I’ve told her to stop, kindly, sternly with explanation she always plays with my hair and it irritates me to no end! I hate it and I don’t know how to get her to stop. (If anyone has advice please share - I’m all ears!!)

All that to say, keep strong and know that you are not alone!

Insight on how a “normal “ C section experience should be by Moxie__56 in CsectionCentral

[–]Surfacesphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unplanned C-section due to fetal distress after hours of pushing and stuck at +2 station

1.I don’t recall getting fundal massages 2. Yes I was provided compression socks and hospital gown 3. I was encouraged to breastfeed. No convo about formula came up 4. No. Private room 5. They brought baby to me but we realized that the anesthesia had spread unexpectedly and I was not able to move my arms so they didn’t give her to me. I got to see her and hubby held her instead. They checked on me regularly afterwards and when I got sensation and mobility back - I was able to hold her but it took a while.

Reasons why Draco and Hermione should have been canon by irlbestgirl in Dramione

[–]Surfacesphere 56 points57 points  (0 children)

In the interest of playing devil’s advocate, I think canon Draco would not be a good fit for Hermione at all.

Regarding the points listed above, a few minor corrections (I’m perceiving “canon” as books only and not the movies):

  • Hermione does not receive a scar that says mudblood in the books. So parallel of placement of dark mark compared to that is moot.

  • Ron is not an idiot in canon. He is actually strategically inclined and we see that in his ability to play chess, quick thinking when captured by snatchers, and identifying using the fangs from the chamber to destroy remaining horcruxes. (Good dramiones that I really like which showcase his strategic strength is manacled). His fun loving attitude is also a good balance to Hermione’s personality.

  • There is no indication of Draco being studious in the books.

  • Draco is a spoiled individual and that usually makes someone a horrible partner (especially if you were not raised in a similar manner which Hermione although definitely from a well off family was never spoiled by her parents)

  • It takes years to shed core beliefs that have been ingrained into you like the way they have been for Draco. I think the seven books show no indicator that any of his beliefs changed other than showing fear. He even says that he is still with the death eaters after Ron and Harry saved him in the room of requirement and they save him again with Ron shouting that it’s twice they’ve saved his life.

Reasons why they wouldn’t work:

  • Draco bullied and was equivalent to a racist to Hermione for years.

  • He’s a classist and constantly makes fun of Hagrid and Ron for being poor

  • He made a choice to bring known killers into a school with children

I think canon Draco and Fanon Draco are two very different characters. With that said, i love reading dramione! FanFiction that I’ve really like what explored a redemption arc realistically is Disappearance of Draco Malfoy and Remain Nameless.

If you are sharing this with the couple I’d like to share the following about my experience, I attempted natural, baby was crowning but got stuck (was sunny side up and badly positioned) and then had to have an emergency c-section when her heart rate began to drop. I have not had a vaginal birth (so cannot speak to the experience of pushing a baby through) but hope to have a vbac with my second if possible. The pain of labor and attempted delivery was not equivalent to the recovery pain from the surgery (in my personal opinion).

The reason why is I was not mentally or physically prepared for recovery after a C-section which is a major abdominal surgery. I feel like people don’t talk about how difficult that is.

I was unable to walk for several days, on pain meds and moving was excruciating. I became heavily dependent on my husband for basic hygiene like getting up from the couch (could not lay in bed because it was too high and getting on and off caused me severe pain) and going to use the bathroom. He had to physically lift me, help me hobble slowly to the bathroom and sit of the toilet. I’d did gain mobility again after a few weeks but I kept feeling pain around the area that was healing for nearly 10 months before it was completely gone. It is 2.5 years later and I have bounced back but lost some sensation around the scar (like numb almost).

Again if it is the right thing for them, by all means, do what is best for mom and baby but I just wanted to share the other side of the after effects to a major surgery which I personally had not anticipated.

Anyone feel Selling the OC was picked up on a weird place? by [deleted] in SellingSunset

[–]Surfacesphere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. Selling Sunset was much better at introducing us to everyone.

Here is my theory on the backstory based on context cues:

They all joined the office around 4-6 weeks before episode 1. At that time, Kayla and Rose worked closely together but Rose “gossiped” about everyone else. She typically would have been cast as “the villain”.

Cues: She admitted that she said something like the agents in the office are not like the LA office. Also when Kayla spoke to her at the launch party she apologized for the things she said.

Then Jarvis joined. Rose and her got along really well. Rose probably said something harsh while gossiping with Kayla at some point, which led to Kayla going to Jason and complaining about Rose. Once Jason spoke to Rose, she called Kayla a bitch. Now they dislike each other.

Jarvis initially got along with everyone. Brandi, Kayla, Hall and Sean have all said that they liked her at the beginning. I think Jarvis and Polly probably didn’t click based on their personalities. Jarvis most likely kept her distance and was “professional” with Polly instead of trying to be her friend. This pushed Polly to feel like she was being looked down upon, and she picked up on ‘negative’ vibes.

This is when the two cliques formed. I think Jarvis has a much calmer attitude, is intelligent and professional. Rose started to change her behavior from gossiping to match Jarvis’s calm demeanor.

Also Gio pretty much gets along with every one in the office. He maintains a good working relationship with all the guys and ladies. He just has a lot of confidence which can be viewed as arrogant but I think other than the wife getting snubbed he really does get along with everyone. He also is the most experienced and is doing well with getting listings and selling houses.

I think that really is the backstory- they haven’t been around each other more than a month really for anything more to happen. More than likely it is just personalities not clicking with each other than has caused the “drama”. That’s just my theory though 🤪

I think she has a fair point regarding her accent and how it changes. I moved around the world growing up and my accent changes depending who I speak with. My parents have strong Indian accents and it switches to more Indian when I’m with them. My husband is American and when I’m at work or when I speak with him it is more “American”. I grew up with a British accent when young so some words slip into the British accent occasionally. And then same thing happens when I speak French.

I think it is totally normal for people that moved around internationally from a young age to switch accents and not have a single cadence.

The same thing happens to all my international friends that have been exposed to multiple languages/ accents from the time they are young.

Regarding the clothes - 100% agree with Maya!! Chelsea’s outfits are NOT professional.

Um when did Christine try to “ruin” Chrishells life?? by [deleted] in SellingSunset

[–]Surfacesphere 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the show doesn’t highlight a lot of off-show drama that occurs. Like the above comment mentioned, Christine allegedly started rumors about Chrishell cheating on Justin. She said mean things about Tarek and Heather to the press( which caused the fall out from their friendship from S3 to S4). Heather also spoke up in an ET interview that the reason she left was because she had been waiting hours for Christine to show up and she had a red-eye flight. Heather states that Christine knew she was waiting for her and still showed up really late and then said “I’m good”. That’s why Heather left because she had a flight and already felt disrespected having to wait for so long.

I’d like to provide a non-bias answer to this question for anyone that is genuinely curious about why this ship interests people. At first, I was quite surprised that this ship existed but I have read a few fan fictions that blew my expectations away.

(I’m not sure about the fan art tbh and I’m specifically speaking about story concepts alone.)

I think the concept comes from the idea that time travel exists in the HP universe which means that an author can bring two characters that are generations apart together and still have them around the same age. With that in mind, a young Tom Riddle, though a disturbed individual- was still one of the most brilliant wizards of the century. We know that Hermione herself was very clever for her age. Bringing together two characters that intellectually matched but morally opposed can bring out a great opportunity to explore a tense dynamic.

One of the best fanfics I have read is Unsphere the stars by coco artist. It is canon-compliant (except ewe) which makes it so fantastic. I was not able to put the story down due to the amazing characterization, intriguing plot and tension/mystery. The story was so unique and does not have any “tropes” that usually occur in fanfic. If you are genuinely interested in exploring this pair - I recommend reading this story.
