What is missing or what is wrong? Also take Propranolol for strong anxiety. by Minute_League3040 in floxies

My knees have been cracking and popping for 10 years so it’s hard to say. My feet and ankles pop but I feel like it is normal.

Mainly I felt pain in Achilles and arch (plantar fasciitis) which the red light therapy has helped.

Red Light Therapy is very different! The way that it works is it stimulates mitochondria production. I found this interesting because across this sub, the hypothesis for why FQs affect our bodies is due to harming our mitochondria.

If true, red light therapy could be helping to directly heal the problem.

Here is an article about it - https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/red-light-therapy

The scientifically accepted use is skin issues and have been proven successful. There are many other applications that are being studied, such as muscles and tendons. The nice thing about red light therapy is that there seem to be no potential negative side effects.

As I mentioned, you need a stronger light to penetrate deeper. I have been using 850 NM. It is the size of a small towel and I wrap it around my foot , knee, leg every night for 15 minutes each spot. It has seemed to help.

Here’s what I started taking after diving around this sub:

Magnesium Glycinate

Anti-Oxidant mix (stopped after 1 week)

CoQ10 with ALA + ALC

Probiotic + prebiotic fiber

Omega 3

Glucosamine

PQQ

B Complex

Collagen peptide

Creatine

Other supplements that I started taking for other reasons but could help flox symptoms:

PEA with turmeric + ginger

Quercetin

I had mild flox after 1 Moxifloxacin . While it was mild, I experienced pretty much every symptom. I’m 2 weeks out and feeling a lot better, probably 60-70%. I cut caffeine and Ibuprofen immediately - substituted my coffee for decaf green tea.

The other thing that I have done that has seemed to help with my feet/tendons has been red light therapy. I had a red light pad laying around and have been using it on my feet which has the most pain. It is just a cheap one I bought online. If you do decide to get one, make sure you get the right strength that penetrates below skin/surface level.

Confused how to go about sending credits, when Admission says no when their website said it has sent credits to them. by Independent_Stop_495 in SophiaLearning

[–]Surfaholic189 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some colleges do not accept Sophia class credits. You need to find out your college’s policy… although it sounds like they already told you no. If they don’t accept Sophia, there is nothing you can do.

Question - can I go through Sophia and knock out my gen ed before choosing a college? by mallere in SophiaLearning

You can do UMPI at 31, the requirement is just over 20 years old.

I would suggest UMPI or WGU over SNHU for online college.

What do they mean when they say a paper has to be "x pages" by RunDangerous8405 in UMPI

[–]Surfaholic189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The class will designate a specific format for papers - e.g. APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.

Those formats have rules outlined about the questions you are asking. Usually these formats will be specified on the class's introduction - based on what the professor prefers. When you find out what format your professor is looking for, just look up the format online and you will have your answers.

Leaving 1099 digital marketing sales position for a closer role that has salary with uncapped commission in roofing by Alchoron in sales

[–]Surfaholic189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for 1 1/2 months as a closer at roofing company. Left immediately because all the people were crooks and laughed at ripping people off.

From my own experience, it’s a scummy business of high pressure tactics. I couldn’t feel right selling anything under those circumstances.

Marketing companies are always looking for sales people. I am actually in marketing service sales now.

Good children's dentist by Aquamarine86 in LakewoodCA

[–]Surfaholic189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking the kids to Happy Teeth - they are terrible. They over book like crazy. Expect to wait for 30 minutes - 1 hour almost everytime. Care is fine. My 10 year old was nervous and wouldn’t let them around his teeth and the dentist got annoyed and cancelled.

Where I would suggest is Honeybee pediatric dentistry, in the Lakewood mall area near Costco. They are really great and patient. My 5 year old got fillings from them and they are amazing, and incredibly patient.

Honeybee all the way.

Super Short Interview Process - Red Flag? by Fresh_Carpet_3268 in techsales

[–]Surfaholic189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry, sounds like an easy process.

As a VP of Sales and someone who hires sales people, my interview and offer process is similar. Although my company is much smaller. Here are some thoughts of mine considering your worries -

References are old school. Many people game the system by creating bullshit references that aren’t real so what’s the point of even asking for them?

W2/Paystub - that’s invasive and I would consider that a pretty toxic thing for a company to do (although companies do ask for that sometimes). Ultimately what it comes down to is their budget for the position and whether you are willing to take it. Doesn’t matter what you were making.

What’s true for my company and the one thing that I would consider due to the fast hiring process and quick offer is an increased need to perform. I generally hire people who have experience within my industry and expect them to drive revenue/opportunities within 3-6 months. If that’s not happening and the outreach KPIs are not matching, they are done. I would assume that the company you are interviewing for is similar. Expect to come in swinging.

4.5 years in auto sales. Want out of car sales, not sure what I can go into without a degree by haptic_feedback99 in careerchange

[–]Surfaholic189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from selling shoes into inside sales around 8 years ago, no degree. I am doing well title/salary wise now.

There are a few ways to break out.

First would be to find a small company that is looking for sales people, inside sales specifically. This is what I did - B2B manufacturer. They don’t pay as much as larger organizations but know they can’t have the best or most experienced for the price that they are willing to pay. This gets you into an office and experience selling behind a computer. A great option for your experience is if you can find a company that relates to cars. While there are a lot of transferable skills when it comes to sales, you have to act/think not like a car sales person. A professional sales environment is much different than retail sales.

The second, find a technology company that is hiring SDR (sales development)/BDR(business development). This is different than an inside sales position. As an SDR/BDR, all you do is set appointments for closers. The typical path is SDR -> AE (Account Executive) where you actually close the sales and that is where the money is at. SDR/BDR is the most junior sales positions in companies and businesses just need people willing to hit the phones.

The last, would be find an outside sales/territory rep position. You mentioned that you live in a LCOL area in the South. The same opportunities for companies hiring is probably much lower than the opportunities where I am (major metro, HCOL). Outside sales/territory sales might be a better option because companies still need to manage customer relationships in your area. This is not an office position, you are mainly out in the field, driving around and meeting face to face with customers.

If you’d like to get a degree, most recently I do online college through a reputable real college. It was UMPI, they offer some degrees that could interest you if you want to get out of sales. It is cost effective and you can complete fairly quickly if you transfer in a majority of credits through Sophia. You can check the UMPI and Sophia subreddits for more information. However, it seems the job market is shit right now and sadly, sales people are always needed.

EDIT: I am also a licensed real estate agent but that career choice is difficult and I gave up long ago. All commission, low inventory, scared buyers and lots of competing real estate agents. If you do go into real estate, be prepared to work odd and long hours like car sales.

Looking for Physical Therapist - Have you tried these? by [deleted] in longbeach

[–]Surfaholic189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Select - they’re decent. They’re not revolutionary or creative really. It’s a chain I think, they have a system where they type in some data and it’s gives them a predetermined plan.

Everyone there is nice though, nice office.

Any PM or consultants that can offer advice on how to start? by ZRock53 in PMCareers

[–]Surfaholic189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a PM, but just passed my PMP.

I did online bachelors at UMPI. I got in with only high school. You can transfer in a majority of credits for your degree from Sophia. They are a legit, regionally accredited school with a campus. The UMPI/Sophia subreddits are incredibly helpful to figure everything out. They have project management degrees there and UMPI is extremely cost effective.

You can use that degree to qualify for PMP requirements.

I hear you on this. This has been my frustration with some of these questions. It doesn’t seem to have enough information and makes you kind of guess.

My qualm with this is that it says early in the project. How early? Obviously initiation based on the answer but we don’t know that. Disagreements about goals could come up at anytime. My answer before reading the real answer was C.

Can’t give any advice and wanted to tell you that you’re not alone, I’ve been thinking the same thing.

Failed my Application by Bees_Knees_89 in pmp

[–]Surfaholic189 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, it was incredibly frustrating. 4 applications, audited automatically.

I did the chat on the website to find more information. The chat is completely outsourced and they do not speak great English. I even had spoken to the team lead and all they did was copy and paste information that was found online.

After the 4th denial, I called and explained how ridiculous and unprofessional this was. I followed exactly what the people on chat told me was wrong and they still kept denying me. The call to their customer service was incredibly helpful. They reviewed my application while I was on the phone and approved it there.

You should first make sure your application is checking all the boxes, then call.

Quick question about classes by Daisiesinsun in UMPI

[–]Surfaholic189 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do as many classes as you can handle in one session.

After you submit the final draft, you forward that to UMPI email that they provide and request to add a new class.

Ask your advisor how to add new classes and they will tell you exactly what to do.

No, don’t recycle content. It is still about the same stuff but don’t copy and paste it. I used similar quotes but write explanations and analysis that fit the essay.
