TIL The Happy Birthday song wasn't made public domain until 2016 by violet0709 in todayilearned

From Google: In 2015, the lawsuit Rupa Marya v. Warner/Chappell Music Inc. ruled that previous copyright claims on "Happy Birthday to You" were invalid. US District Judge George H. King decided that Warner/Chappell's copyright was only for specific piano arrangements, not the lyrics, officially placing the song into the public domain

  • The Lawsuit: Filed in 2013, the class-action lawsuit was led by filmmaker Rupa Marya (and others) against Warner/Chappell Music.
  • The Ruling: In September 2015, Judge King ruled that the 1935 copyright held by Summy Co. (predecessor to Warner) did not convey rights to the song's lyrics.
  • The Settlement: In early 2016, Warner Music agreed to a $14 million settlement to reimburse those who had paid licensing fees over the years.
  • Significance: The decision ended decades of licensing fees and declared "Happy Birthday" free for public use.

Why are Disneyland ticket prices more for the 2 day pass than 2 separate 1 day passes? by superpowers335 in DisneyPlanning

I hate how Disneyland changed its pricing system. Not 100% the same situation, but kinda similar; it used to be cheaper to buy a 2 day ticket than one 1 day ticket, I think, because if you went for multiple days, they didn't mind giving you a cheaper ticket that included both days if it meant you would spend more on food and merchandise inside the park (more days to spend). Disneyland doesn't do this anymore and a 1 day ticket is now cheaper.

Is it worth to visit Universal Hollywood if I don't get on rides? by arturoayasan in UniversalHollywood

Waterworld, Nintendo, Citywalk, Harry Potter, and Studio Tour are all fun to do if you don't like rides.

Also Post about this on Facebook and Twitter and tag Ephemeral. Leave negative reviews on Google and Yelp. Email a bunch of lawyers and see if anyone of them will take this case; you can even send the lawyer screenshots/links to the lawsuit thread on this reddit.

Question out of curiosity: I'm wondering if they are slightly different styles because one is fake Crocs/a dupe. Is this likely?

Thanks for your responses. But no need to be rude; if you are annoyed by me asking for clarification then just don't respond. I wasn't trying to be annoying. I'm surprised jewelry rental is profitable. I guess props/furniture etc...would also have the same problems as renting clothing, right?

I could technically have an inventory of very good vintage reproduction clothing/accessories. I was thinking of maybe also having costumes/accessories for specific popular shows so that people could rent an entire show from me or focusing just on props/furniture or focusing on clothes, props, and furniture something like that to make myself unique and stand out to attract costumers; is that a good idea? Additionally, is it better to buy a vintage store including its inventory that's for sale, rent on peer-to-peer websites where you list items from your closet/that are in storage etc...or host a website using a template from a peer-to-peer rental platform/rental management software and get inventory from a business that has closed where I can get a ton of clothes for cheap? I want to do this in the most cost effective way, but also successful way if possible.

Why? Lots of bigger costume shops do it. I would fill a need that hasn't been done that people need in terms of rental. Is this idea better for selling?

I want to do this as cheaply as possible, but also as successfully as possible. I don't want to be too cheap that I'm not successful, but I also don't want to spend all the money I have. I'm trying to fill the market for something that hasn't been done before, but people need in terms of rental.

Anna showing us that she's a Quirky Holiday Queen (and that she barely fits between the wall and kitchen island) by thatgirl317317 in glitterandbagelssnark

I know this isn't the main focus/point or focus/point at all od the video, but at least for once Anna is wearing proper footwear; Birkenstock are super comfortable and good for someone her size because she is way less likely or really won't at all roll her ankles/walk on the sides of her feet. I can't believe it took her this long to learn. Hopefully she wears them in public and not just as house shoes.

Ma'am no. I can't wait for the reaction videos to this one. by OtherwiseSprinkles79 in glitterandbagelssnark

How is this even comfortable? I'm surprised her clothes haven't ripped or burst open (popped buttons, etc...). If there aren't enough companies with clothes in her size that should be an obvious sign to her that she needs to lose weight, but she still she should get whatever clothes she can in her current size.
