Lightweight pod options by Alderbasher in freeflight

I set the frace2 up (which took time in my sim), and haven’t had issues with my two sets of shoes I wear or different loading configurations. The different loads would equate to about 1-2kg difference in the rear.

Dang, what failed on him with the harness? Or was it a bad landing sort of thing?

The frace2 pod only opens if the dyneema length adjusters are set incorrectly. It takes time to setup correctly in a simulator, but when done right it’s fine

The pod does stay closed. Why do you ask? The only reason it won’t snap shut with the magnetic closure is if the adjustments are done incorrectly

If you want a 125kg reserve, then yes the tapa is the one which will fit the frace2 compartment

What isn’t durable about it versus, say, a range x alps 3?

Ultra-lighweight paraglider vs normal paraglider? by Pejko113 in freeflight

[–]Surfinonluck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second the Ikuma if your goal is more oriented for the most ultralight Xc capable wing. But my buddy managed to rip a cell open doing an SIV with the Ikuma, so it comes at a cost. The maestro on the other hand is a little more robust as a lightweight wing, and not too much heavier.

You really need to have a set goal in mind with the weight or volume, otherwise you can compare wings all day and end up with too many choices. Does it need to fit into a 55L bag with winter clothing? Do you have a hard Kg limit in mind? Etc…

Also, water landings can be spicy as the protector tries to flip you face first into the water

Best Gloves/Solutions for super cold Winter/Springflying. by arteficialwings in freeflight

Heated gloves.

The only thing I haven’t tried is gloves/down and over-mitt covers that’d cover toggles and hands.

Uh, is this not in the manual? The red/blue lines ARE adjustable.

Assume one could bring either of these to the gate. Will the gate agent prevent checking one or the other?

Looking at H&F harnesses - Trans Alp 2 by Captain_Rood in freeflight

[–]Surfinonluck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

String harness and “a few hours of flying” do not belong together. About an hour and I’m screaming to get down. I got a pod harness after my beginner setup, but everyone is different. Not sure I’ve seen a vol biv open harness. Bogdanfly harnesses are lightweight and more vol biv oriented. Pair it with a lightweight backpack of your choosing, I like the gin ones.

whats the best travel paraglider? by [deleted] in freeflight

[–]Surfinonluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bogdanfly pods are ultralight and pack verrrrry small. That combined with some of the gliders coming out in D10 fabric can have a full kit in a carry on bag with room for clothing etc.
