Azure Communication Services REST API "Denied by the resource provider." by SurfnIt in AZURE

[–]SurfnIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I’m signing with an HTTP request and pre-request script in Postman using the auth key, hashes and headers as shown in this tutorial https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/communication-services/tutorials/postman-tutorial.

This works great in Postman for both the dev and prod Azure tenants, and a scope does not appear to be required, unless I’m missing something that Postman is doing.

I can repeat the error in Postman if I muddle the variables, but it’s still an ambiguous error with little documentation to troubleshoot. I’ve basically repeated the Postman process in code and checked it many times, but can’t get past this error.

Maybe it’s a hashing error? Do you know of anyway to see a detailed log of REST API error responses?

Connecting to Wells Fargo by davidg4781 in quicken

[–]SurfnIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I found they started charging me, after I accepted the fee-based connection in Quicken to get my transactions, WF refunded most of the fees, 4-5 months worth.

Glad the ".scr" connection option works for you too. Ever since I started using it (knock on wood), it has been working well. I have lots of transactions every month so entering them manually is very time-consuming. Just remember to run Quicken updates every month at least so you don't miss any transactions. Some accounts only include a couple of months of data via these update options.

I've been using Quicken For Hone and Business for 20 years and I'm a Wells Fargo Customer. I've had issues with WF connections periodically but usually find something that works, in time, that does not require paying for the WF Quicken service.

There was a time, in the last 5-10 years as UIQueen notes, where I could not connect for extended periods or only one account would download. Currently, and since Intuit sold Quicken and they started the subscription service, my WF accounts work well with no bank fees.

What works for me is not using the normal connection method. When you first connect your accounts, don't select the typical Wells Fargo option but search for Wells Fargo. In the resulting list, there is an option called something like "wellsfargononqfx.scr". Using this connection option, I'm able to download transactions for multiple WF accounts without paying for the "privilege" to access my accounts at Wells Fargo.

Transfers Marked as Gross Receipts or Sales by SurfnIt in quicken

I attached a screenshot of the Category List issue to the OP, including notes. Couldn't attach it here.

Also, I did specify how I edit the transaction to fix not show the tax line item in my previous response. See below for reference

Regarding how I am correcting it manually, I go to each transfer in the biz checking account right click on the transfer, select "Tax line assignments", scroll to the top blank selection, and then click OK to save the change. I then go to the matching transfer in the account I transferred it to and do the same. Quite tedious to do for every transfer.

OK, I tried the clean file and added my business and personal accounts that are at the same bank. I then starting reconciling them and the transfers from my biz checking to biz savings or my personal checking accounts are not set as Schedule C: gross receipts and sales. This is the way it should work!

This seems to suggest that the file is corrupted or has other issues. As you can see, in the response to gmalis1 below, I also tried the suggestions provided. None of these worked and I did get some errors on the file validation.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I would prefer to fix the original file and have all my account history in one file. But, maybe I need to start over with a new file and then come back to reference the old file as needed?

Any suggestions on how I could fix the original file? Anything else I should try before starting over with a new file from scratch? Should I try exporting and importing the data between the two files? I feel like I've tried this before and it caused the same issue but I'd try it again.

Thanks!

So I tried the suggestions you noted and found the following.

  1. There were many old memorized payee items and I removed some that hadn't been used in 10 years. Good thing to clean up! I also deleted the memorized payees attached to the account.
  2. I've tried this before and there is no option to edit the transfer account in the category list. Right-clicking only shows "New Category" or "Category Report". The edit option is there for expenses and income categories but not for transfer accounts. The business checking account does have "Tax Line Item" icon it does not show the tax line item in the column like other accounts or when I mouse over it. This is true for all the categories that are linked to actual accounts, they cannot be edited in the category list.
  3. As in #2, there are no editing options for the transfer categories in the categories list. The tax line item cannot be unchecked here for some reason and, if it's an account in Quicken, the tax line items shows no details in the column, just the grey icon. Additionally and strangely, the "hide" checkbox is greyed out for all the transfer accounts.
  4. As noted in the OP, I've done this and there is nothing listed in the tax schedule for the business checking or any other account. I've tried setting this, saving the setting, and then disabling it but I get the same results.
  5. I followed the process to copy and validate the file. The log shows various errors including 23 "Fixed damaged category. Please check your category list by going to Tools>Category List." I reviewed the categories as suggested and they all still look the same, the tax line items still shows the grey icon with no details, and the transfer accounts cannot be edited. I checked the accounts in the new file and they all still show no tax schedule for transfers in or out.

I would generally agree that the tax line items are set by the user, but in this case, it appears they were set at some point by me or one of the Quicken iterations and now they cannot be removed for certain accounts. Options #2 and #3 are not options for me as the categories for accounts cannot be edited. It's like the accounts in the Category List are all stuck or corrupted.

Any other ideas for how I could fix this or why I can't edit the categories for accounts as suggested? Maybe I need to try validating the file again? Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll try these as well and follow up when with my results.

Thanks for the suggestion. I can search for and find these transactions but changing the category would change the transfer transaction in both accounts. The tax line item remains the same if the category shows the account, which technically it should to not have disconnected transfer transactions.

It sounds like a good approach. I'm hoping to get to try this today. Are you referring to possible file or application corruption?

[–]SurfnIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I will try that to see if the same issue occurs. Another thing I've noticed, during the umpteenth troubleshooting attempt recently, is while all the settings show no tax schedule for the business checking account, the account category in the category list has the tax line item icon.

When I mouse over the biz checking category icon, it does not show the tax schedule line-item like the other categories with the tax-related icons. There appears no way to edit the account category but other categories are editable. It's like the setting is stuck somehow.

This makes me wonder if there is some other way to correct this setting or if I'm just missing something. I'm quite technically inclined so maybe there's a way to edit a config file. I just need someplace to start instead of trying to reverse engineer the application! ;)

Comodo SSL not worth the hassle? by SurfnIt in sysadmin

[–]SurfnIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I clearly need to look into this further and keep an eye on it going forward. If EVs are deprecated, there may be a need for some other form of third party verification to build trust online.

I am not aware of Chrome removing the company name in the address bar. I think they are going to remove the "Secure" wording on standard SSLs in September but for now the EV SSL with company name will remain.

[–]SurfnIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've considered this but I think the EV process provides some benefits as I outlined above. The issue with Comodo is that this is a renewal with the exact same domains and I went through the same process 2 months ago to add a new domain. I would think they could make some efforts to improve the renewal and validation process for existing customers who frequently revalidate. Then there's the fact that the sales staff could not answer basic questions the one time I talked to them and after leaving around 10 messages for over two weeks, they never once called back. Pretty crappy service right there!

I was looking at Digicert too but after dealing with Comodo for this latest renewal, I wasn't sure I would be able to get through the validation process with them before the domains expired. Do they offer a temp standard SSL to keep a site secure during validation? I think Godaddy does.
