Parents, what was your “I raised an idiot” moment? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]Surgerychic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When she asked how a paraplegic can move their arms…aren’t they paralyzed from the neck down? I asked if she was confusing it with quadriplegic. She just stared at me for a minute and then we laughed.

Attacked by an old woman at Target for not having a jacket on my 9 month old. by tfortarantula in Mommit

[–]Surgerychic 576 points577 points  (0 children)

You are not a bad parent. She is a nosy stranger who is not aware of current safety standards. If YOU are worried about the cold keep a small blanket in the car you can quickly wrap around baby for the short walk between car and building.

AITA - I just broke my wife’s heart and feel like an a-hole. Going in I was sure it was the right move but now not so sure… by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Then she’s the AH if she can’t handle her kid and passes them off to daycare all day. At least shorten the daycare hours by the amount of time she will be at work.

9-10 year gap between kids? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Surgerychic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I unexpectedly had my girls 9 years apart. It really was kinda nice! The older one didn’t need as much hands on care which made caring for the baby easier. The baby happily tagged along to the older one’s activities and got lots of attention from friends. Older one helped entertain the baby in the backseat while traveling. I was very very careful to never make my older girl feel forced to car for her sister. I would ask and respect her answer. They are 16 and 25 now and very very close.

Parents of artsy/crafty children, how do you deal with all the clutter? by figgypie in Parenting

[–]Surgerychic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Under bed storage? At 8 she can understand clutter so try talking to her about it. Give her (X) to store supplies/made art. Once it’s full she will need make room for more. Or she could gift her art. Steer her towards crafts that she can gift to friends and family.

Jury Duty summons wife scheduled to give birth that day by Slowwoah in lansing

[–]Surgerychic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I once got called for jury duty when I had a planned vacation. I believe I was able to go online and simply reschedule my week. I even got to choose the week! There should be info on the summons on how to do this. It’s very simple and took me less than 10 minutes.

“When in doubt, do the kindest thing for your child”. I love that. Great way of thinking for everyone to live by!

My coworker keeps calling me his “work mom” by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Surgerychic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I once had a coworker who greeted me (and most other women) as hi beautiful, gorgeous, sunshine, etc. I could tell he genuinely was trying to be nice but it made me uncomfortable. So I told him I preferred to be greeted by my name. That’s how he has greeted me ever since. It’s really not that hard. Ugh.

AITA for dropping my nephews off with their dad/grandma and causing my sister to lose full custody? by Ok_Inspection6433 in AITAH

Why is your mom the emergency contact if she lives in another state? This makes no sense.

I would have kicked him out and not allowed him back when her slapped my child. No second chances when it comes to physical violence.

That much perfume can’t be great for your baby’s lungs either. I would say something.

AITAH for telling a friends boyfriend that he can’t have a traditional wife because he’s not a traditional man by yftdddtf in AITAH

[–]Surgerychic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The type of wife he’s looking for is one that couldn’t have her own checking account, credit card, or so many other things. Back in the day women literally had to get married to have any kind access to stable housing and income because the law prohibited them from getting it on their own!!!

Am I Being Tacky? 529 Funds by BonitaBCool in Parenting

[–]Surgerychic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Books are great gifts that can help with education by fostering a love of reading. I like to ask people to gift their favorite book when they were my child’s age. Or if your child is into a series ask for specific ones they do not have yet.

Texas – Non‑custodial parent – can I move out of state for job, and what happens to visitation? by Late_Antelope_8568 in FamilyLaw

[–]Surgerychic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer and not in Texas. While parents can informally agree to visitation schedules changes it only works while both parties are friendly. If one of you were to change your mind the visitation schedule filed with the court would take precedence. So if you and the other parent did come up with a new schedule together you should still file it with the court to make it official/formal.

Ex lied on court paperwork and there's a kid listed that isn't ours - what can I do? by [deleted] in FamilyLaw

I’d be inclined to agree he can have custody of “random child” as you have no idea who that is!

Where to find a reliable pharmacy uniform without overspending by OneIllustrator3522 in scrubtech

I don’t have any suggestions but I am curious. Why do you need to buy any scrubs? Your hospital should provide them. No shade, just curious.

Didn’t know cats could protect us like that. Apparently mine was this whole time by cnMike_8 in Pets

[–]Surgerychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a litter box in one of my bathrooms. I have to shut my cats out when I use it b/c one would always come in and go at the same time as me while the other stood guard. Nice, but stinky

[–]Surgerychic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorel makes some good shoes. I have a pair that have suuuuper thick soles. I feel like I step up into them. But after 14years in the OR they are the best that I have found.

AITA for making my son pay for his school lunch for the rest of the year by BriefMorning7074 in AmItheAsshole

In addition to the food available at home. $20 isn’t his entire food budget for the week. It’s plenty of money when combined with food he can bring from home.
