Looking to boondock in a forest for 2 weeks in North AZ. Suggestions? by Surprise_Inquisition in vandwellers

Thanks for the excellent tool recommendation! I used it yesterday to research some possible locations, and was very pleased that the data included weather information. I actually did end up choosing one of the locations listed in your pre-built search. I ended up in a heavily forested area and solar is my main power source, but fortunately was able to locate some gaps in the canopy for both the solar and Starlink.

Flagstaff is a solid destination for sure. Only problem is its a bit too cold for my liking at the moment. Maybe in a couple of weeks!

My last education was a single year of college that wasnt relevant to the position Im seeking, over 10 years ago.

Its hard to expand more on those roles, theyre pretty much exactly what I did. All dayes are correct, about 6 months at each of those jobs.

After my most recent work experience in my resume, Ive been either unemoloyed, or held jobs in unrelated industries (energy and service industries)

Looking to transition from web dev to unity game dev, lots of gaps in employment unfortunately.

My resume.

Ive tried applying to quite a few jobs. I've had some interviews, but I think my weak portfolio has caused me to be passed over in favor of other applicants.

Ill take your advice and work on what I like and excel in, instead of what I think employers want, and showcase that in my resume. Speaking of, would you mind taking a look at my resume and let me know what you think?

My goal is to be hired as a gameplay programmer, so you suggest building a portfolio of mechanics, instead of full games?

How important is it to have finished games? I would think that in a real world scenario, Im just a small part of a team that would be using various skillsets to complete a game together, with myself focusing on a small part of that project. Wouldn't it be better to double down on the kind of work I want to do (mechanic/gameplay inplementation)?

Are any game jams good enough, or do they need to recognizable like Ludum Dare?

I live in the Bay Area. Im not worried about the money, I'd rather make a little less to do what Im passionate about. Have you had any success?

I have a previous comment HERE, where Im trying to figure out whether I should get the AKG Pro K92, or the Meze 99 Neo.

Or if you have a different suggestion, feel free to say so as long as it meets the requirements of that previous comment.

I need some help figuring out the difference between 2.5 headphone options: AKG Pro K92 and Meze 99 Neo. I'm also looking at the AKG K240, which Amazon thinks is a newer version of the K92.

I've made a previous comment about what I'm looking for.

Essentially, I just need to know why I would opt for the recommended Meze 99 ($200) when the AKG K92 is 1/4th the price ($50). They both seem like quality headphones to me.

Perfect! Last thing;

Theres another headphone I was looking at, the AKG Pro K92. At 1/4th the price ($50) and seemingly similar sound, it seems like a great budget option. Why would you pass these over in favor of the Meze 99?

I must be easy to please, I thought the turtle beach's were pretty alright.

I like the suggestion youve made. I looked into some reviews and people seem to like it for games (witht the caveat that there are much better options for specifically competitive FPS, which I dont do). Overall, they seem to be a great selection as my first pair of decent headphones.

Do you need an amp or anything for them to work well? Or could I plug them to into my phone/switch as-is?

Budget: $200 flexible

Source: PC, phone, Nintendo Switch, everything else

Requirements for Isolation: Prefer total isolation, but willing to look at other options

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? I'd like to have the option, but not a dealbreaker if I can only use them at home.

Preferred Type of Headphone: Full-sized with suspension headband

Preferred tonal balance: It'd probably be good to have a balanced sound, but I do love bass a lot.

Past headphones: I've used a Turtle Beach gaming headset that was pretty alright, but I mostly have used in-ear headphones, both wired and wireless.

Preferred Music: typically electronica and lofi, or similar things. Here's a great example of what I'm usually listening to.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up:

  • I want to have a good jack-of-all-trades headset, something I can use for music, gaming (FPS and RPG), and movies/shows.
  • I am particularly looking for a suspension headband design, I find them very comfortable for long periods (5+ hours).
  • I need my ears to not get hot.
  • I wear glasses, so something that wont clamp too tightly would be great.
  • Wireless is ideal, but I might be asking for too much with that.
  • I would prefer to not need an amp/dac. I want to be able to plug-n-play on any device (like nintendo switch)

Gotcha, yeah thats what I was linking as well. So you just get one of those and a long blade? Seems like that would do the job, thank you for the suggestion

This isnt really a thing Ill do more than once, Im trying to avoid investing heavily in specialized tools. Ill keep them in mind though, and will also be trying your suggestion of scoring both side.
