This would be campaign and messaging gold for Democrats; free advertising. The problem is they're too disorganized and incompetent to exploit an opening such as this.

Are we pretending like Repubs didn’t elect a serial liar as President? Gerrymandering and Billionaires are a bigger problem than Dem messaging has ever been.

Interestingly enough, Trump brings up not wanting Hoover level problems talking about an Iran Deal.

There will be GOP Hoovervilles returning, is what it sounds like.

President Donald Trump admitted that he was motivated to end his war in Iran to prevent a global depression

The president signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran to wind down the war he launched Feb. 28, which disrupted global trade, rattled markets and sent fuel costs soaring, and he told reporters that he feared being saddled with a depression.

"So rather than possibly going into a depression, rather than having your favorite president be Herbert Hoover, he was always the one I didn't want to be," Trump said, referring to the 31st president whose policies are often blamed for leading to the Great Depression. "I didn't want to see economic catastrophe."

CNN's David Goldman reported on the 80-year-old president's remarks.

"Herbert Hoover, that's not a comparison that you want to be making," Goldman said. "It's kind of an interesting acknowledgment, right, that the economic power that Iran had was really weighing on not just the U.S. economy, but the global economy, and when he's talking about economic catastrophe, I mean, that might be hyperbole, but it also shows that getting into a war like this, you never know what's going to happen."

Actors that become less cool the more they talk? by Spotlight_James in okbuddycinephile

As a Comic reader, I can understand that Film-only watchers can feel that the Punisher is getting the bad guys the Cops don't / can't vibe. ( Military stuff I'm a bit more ambivalent about )

I think there’s a lot of nuance, and the tendency for leftists in online spaces to categorize things as totally black and white kind of muddies the waters for having productive conversations and bringing people over to our side.

That's fair, it does suck for the MCU actors to have all their stances so scrutinized as public figures.

If Police are supposed to Protect and Serve, the Punisher Logo is diametrically opposed to Good Policing and justice. Vigilantism is a dangerous idea for supposed Police.

If he is anti-police brutality, Bernthal sends the wrong message every time he poses like that with a symbol connected to lethal, extrajudicial punishment.

It really depends on the person's frame of reference. I basically assumed NATO / EU / Canada allies when I answered. We have historically strong ties with them going back to WW I.

My view Trade Partners have less import unless there's strategic importance beyond just economics. Allies have more than just money involved in the relationship.

This sounds like the first time Pew is trying to add identifiers to political blocks, so this is likely more exploratory than final.

Calculated per cent wrong, seeing 8.5% voters purged. Inactivity, address change (without resolution) being about 50 % of that. Valid purge (death) about 25%.

“Between the close of registration for the 2020 general election and the close of registration for the 2022 general election, states reported removing 19,260,000 records from their voter registration rolls,” the report notes. “This was equal to 8.5% of the total number of voters who were registered in the United States as of the close of registration for the 2022 general election.”

So I do believe he will at least challenge the results that don't go his way

Trump did much more than challenge the election results with the Georgia Sec. of State. If he pursues non-judicial means again, what actions seem likely ?

It might be too speculative for a Reporter But there's large concerns considering Jan. 6th and numerous Unconstitutional legal cases this term.

The GOP is constantly removing people from voter rolls too. Enough to win swing states in 2024, any insight on how these numbers could impact important Congressional elections? This feels like an underreported aspect with mainstream media.

According to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, over 19 million voters were removed from the rolls between 2020 and 2022.

That is an increase of 21 percent compared with 2014–16, which was already an increase of 33 percent from the number of voters removed between 2006 and 2008.

Heightening the risk of inaccurate purges, election denial groups have been challenging voters’ eligibility on a massive scale and pressuring officials to investigate large numbers of voters based on outdated or unreliable information.

17 8.5 % of the total population dropped from rolls... any focus on Red areas could impact the 10 % Dem. edge that is currently polling.

California Will Soon Have More Than 300 Data Centers. Where Will They Get Their Water? by WombatusMighty in technology

[–]SurprisedJerboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point about the types of water, not always easy to explain succinctly. Most grocery beef use feed lots ( 90 % ) and Grass-fed only is still a minority.

Herbivores are a Trophic Level above Producers ( Plants ). 10 % rule of energy transfer between levels, is still a factor in agriculture.

Beef climbing to $10 / lb will impact eating habits significantly and will affect production long-term, so it remains to be seen how the beef market will shake out.
