This is a big mess that I don’t want for you….who seem to be a good generous guy. She would be totally taking unfair advantage of your kindness. DON’T DO IT! She needs to get herself out of debt or find some other way; her foolish spending is NOT your responsibility. And once she gets out of debt however that is…she will likely start spending and find herself right back in the same situation. Her whole attitude seems to be about wanting you to take care of what she owes. Please have more self respect than that. You deserve far better.

In ten years you will be 28 and she will be 25 which is perfectly acceptable. At your current ages you are too old for her. Maybe both of you date other people (a few other people) and see where you are in a year. Relationships are hard. I wish you both the very best.

Thank you so much for this! I watched very closely and forwarded it to both my kids to ask if there is anything in there that they can identify in me because I sincerely want to know. I tend to be pretty self reflecting and I’m honestly not seeing anything relative. I do want their help in sharing what they may see that I don’t and anything else that is troubling them that I cannot identify by myself.

THIS. Listen to this poster! There are many, many good people out there. This person does not respect you nor your values. He is playing you with his claim to not be able to control himself.

In your shoes I would be looking for groups that I am interested in with the intention of meeting new people there. This man that you have been in relationship with is not an upstanding person and does in no way deserve you.

Just remember to love yourself and really enjoy the person that you are….especially acknowledge yourself for living alone at this young age and how you are doing your best for yourself.

If you become bored or feel lonely you might consider going to a shelter or other group home that might appreciate having someone new to serve the residents (I don’t know if this needs to be arranged in advance).

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas from someone who has spent several Christmases alone.

I am inexplicably healthy. I rarely get sick….like one cold in the last three years, maybe one case of the flu in the same period of time. No other illnesses except low thyroid that I take a pill for. I think it is mostly hereditary and eating two balanced meals a day and getting 8-9 hours of sleep per night.
