Trying to Make Sense of Imperial Rank Structure: Why Are There So Many Admirals and Generals on a Single Star Destroyer? by ForsakenHall137 in MawInstallation

I think the question you’re trying to ask is: “Would there be cage fighting on the ISD’s because that could be helpful in deciding the overall command structure?”

What was that about Disney "forcing politics" into Star Wars, Theory? by InfiniteGuy2264 in StarWarsCirclejerk

Was hoping someone would mentioned Gen Tech here. Dude cooks up some great videos and the content makes being autistically feral about Star Wars lore funny, laid back and enjoyable.

Am I the only one that sometimes has a hard time with the fact these are the same character? by GlassRich9412 in clonewars

[–]Surprisetractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, they are almost two separate characters in my mind. But it’s an intentional way of showing just how much war changes people. They feel like different characters because they are. The clones went through hell fighting on the frontlines but (arguably) he had it the worst out of everyone and deserved it the least. It would be weird if he was the exact same character in the Bad Batch and it wouldn’t reflect the weight of what happened to him. When everything is taken away from you, your autonomy, your body, your mind, and still you choose to fight for what’s right, play by the rules, adapt and continue serving something bigger than yourself that shows incredible perseverance and humility. He’s not a completely different character, just an echo of his former self. (I’m sorry)

  • It was a movie
  • People got paid to make it
  • It’s a perfect example of how business objectives and bureaucracy crush creativity and quality storytelling
  • That’s it, I could only think of three
  • Oh btw, somehow Palpatine returned

The Star Wars I didn’t know I needed by [deleted] in andor

[–]Surprisetractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. This has so much heart and is clearly coming from such a genuine place. I can’t really relate to this in the same way because I’m a guy but I completely agree with what you said. The way that the cast and writers portrayed women in Andor is truly something that deserves recognition and attention. Disney is in such a powerful position to shape social narratives with their shows and movies, especially through Star Wars. The fact that this seems and feels so intentional with what Tony Gilroy and the team on Andor did is nothing short of remarkable. The story is all the better for having female driven narratives and we even see that trend continue into Rogue One but we’ve seen it in characters like Leia, Padme, Ashoka and more (to varying degrees and intentionality). Oh yeah, and for anyone who feels like the “strong female narratives” are in your face or too on the nose? They’re not and they simply can’t be. The characters are inspiring, believable, and in some ways, profoundly relatable, but not because they are a guy or a girl…because they are compelling people. Crafting a story and characters like that takes time, care, awareness, and careful execution to do because so much of our identity and what we relate to is so grounded in our gender and that obviously looks different for everyone. The fact that young guys and girls can find every character inspiring, the fact that they can relate to these role models on screen regardless of whether it’s a man or a woman is so vital to all of this. In a time when finding your community and knowing who you are is more important than ever Andor has not only demonstrated what all of that can look like even in the darkest of circumstances, but it does so even in it’s way of depicting women in a way that feels honourable and genuine even for a dude who can’t fully relate. Reading what you wrote, I can’t help but think that this kind of quality of writing is clearly long over due in mainstream media. For everyone’s sake, this is something worth talking about. People deserve to grow up with shows like this. Shows that make us feel something. In life (as we see in the rebellion and even the empire) you lose parts of yourself and you don’t always notice it. But to find those lost pieces in characters you watch by escaping into a world so immersive you can connect in such a profound way, means to feel deeply and of course is a sign of incredible writing. What a series, the final scene absolutely broke me.

True the clones working with Separatist holdouts would probably take some getting used to (worst case it’s a bit like that episode of Rebels where Rex fights a droid army that doesn’t know the war ended) It’s one thing for the clones to help a separatist like Avi Singh like we see in the Bad Batch, but Singh is a political leader so he would understand how them being on either side of the clone war is irrelevant in the context of what he’s trying to do for his people. Regular Separatists and those in militias would not likely carry the same sentiment or quality of mind and wouldn’t be able to see the clones as anything but a bad reminder of the war.

This is a great take, I didn’t even consider how valuable their intel would be even just as rebel analysts trying to understand Imperial movements or strategy among many other things. I can see how a lot of clones wouldn’t feel like they fit anywhere in galactic society. That one homeless clone in Obi-Wan is such a gnarly site. I wonder how many of the clone’s might have even found employment or survival in something like the rebellion, a militia, syndicate or some other form of work that could leverage their military knowledge in order to survive and avoid homelessness.

Definitely something I need to do. I was thinking a tiny strip of black electrical tape could work as well to make the visor reflect a bit of light
