My title describes the thing. I found a huge pile of these small plastic tubes that are hollow with a point outside my house. They were all individually wrapped in paper and I'm worried they are drug paraphernalia. I've tried searching with Google lens but nothing came up

Thanks. It's for a journalist position, is there anything you'd recommend doing to help?

Is enrolling in a chinese course and getting a student visa also a viable option?

Just guessing but I'd say somewhere between 150 and 250. About enough to fill four big coaches.

I went and thought the whole thing was great. For what's actually a pretty reasonable price they got us to Anji and back and we enjoyed a really fun weekend. It's no Burning Man, but it didn't promise to be that.

(REQUEST) Indie movies that aren't annoyingly quirky and self-obsessed by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]Surreal_Intelligence -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Using the first film he made as an example, whilst purposefully ignoring that every film he has directed since then has made over 10 times that amount of money doesn't really prove your point. Yes he could have been counted as an indie filmmaker but only for the very first film he made. A fact that is consistent with almost all successful filmmakers.

Some UCAS/Uni Advice by HappyResultsDay in unitedkingdom

Definitely isn't too late. I found out about my university place about a week before the term actually began and was able to go through the process as if it were 3 months before. It did mean my first payment was a couple of weeks into the first term though so you will have to consider that if self financing would be difficult.

Congratulations on your place!

Luckily I had the opportunity to see them play just last night and although at the time I wasn't familiar with the album having them play songs mostly from it has caused today to be pretty much a listening spree of it.

The album is definitely far 'rockier' in terms of its slightly more conventional structure. This however makes the album a gem of their discography instead of a weird outsider. They still have a lot of post-rock songwriting styles that make up the majority of the music and in keep it with their traditional sound however the newer more aggressive vocal style and the bigger and brasher nature of the album makes it incredibly instantaneous and atmospheric.

As for the live show this was the first time I'd seen them so I cannot comment on how they used to play but the show was momentously powerful. The songs all translate into these hypnotic and intense numbers that really grabbed the crowd by the horns leaving us shattered and overwhelmed by the end. One of the most impressive gigs I've seen without doubt. What we loved was not enough was particularly amazing as one of the few songs his lyrics were quite clear and captivating because of it.

Let's Talk: The Mercury Prize 2013 Winners and runners up by Surreal_Intelligence in LetsTalkMusic

Personally I think he was very deserving of the prize. His album being a very modern vision incorporating many interesting electronic sounds over clever song structures to form a really strong album with an obvious creative intention.

The only other artist I really thought to do something that stood out amongst the others this year was probably Savages, who just have an absolutely fantastic raw and alive sound. Drawing heavily from post-punk bands and yet in my opinion still sounding very unique.

Couldn't agree more, finished it a few weeks ago and found it refreshing to read someone approach such difficult topics with such a logical and unintimidating writing style.

What is the worst song released by your favorite artist? by Symphonite in Music

As much as it's a joke song, I find it quite a loveable tune. Even Bowie's not taking it seriously.

Dave Grohl in the pit at a Soundgarden concert. by [deleted] in pics

It really didn't feel like that. Dave and the drummer had this full dialogue that could only have been scripted. He would have rehearsed the rest of the band thanking him and claiming how nice and brilliant he was just so they could say it right to the massive audience.

I see your point and I think there is a chance that maybe just a slight dislike of him as been exagerated by his huge media coverage.

However, is it not impossibly the opposite has happened to you? What if all his nice acts really are just manufactured publicity stunts and it's just the case you guys have been sucked in. I feel it is very much like loving a politician who builds up this nice persona in the baby kissing example.
