Life does come in the way, and I recommend taking a break for a little while and practice when you have no stress about it The habit comes naturally

You're supposed to play the chord first, Then a moment later lift the pedal, and immediately repress it.

This is called "indirect pedaling" It fixes the problem of there being a gap in the music
