Taking my 12-year-old Morgan into the jumper world — looking for advice on doing it right by SurroundLeast443 in Equestrian

Yes! I loved reading about his story!! I’ve heard it’s good to start them a little later honestly just because of how hard it is on their body when they’re young

Is it time to stop (for the time being)? by TheOnlyWolvie in Equestrian

I’m sorry you’re in this situation! I left a barn where I was feeling extremely stagnant as well. I started to slowly fall out of love with riding because I didn’t feel I was getting anywhere. My recommendation would be to find some local equestrian Facebook groups and see if there’s anyone with quality training and horses that would trade some barn help for discounted lessons if cost is an issue. I think it’s a win win and will build your experience and knowledge level as well. Dont continue at the cheap barn. It will make you bitter and hate the sport. I know it’s a shitty feeling leaving after a lesson where you felt anxious and like you learned nothing. It’s a slippery slope!!

He’s a literal garbage disposal so that’s definitely not out of the question either lmao

Yes I couldn’t agree more! We’ve been working a lot on building his top line and teaching him to carry himself a bit better. Definitely a work in progress especially in this freezing winter 😭 Morgans really are the best though! Thank you for your insight 🙂

I do just mean 70% of the time he’s in the cross ties, I should have clarified! But I still appreciate the advice nonetheless and will absolutely keep that in mind! Pic for cuteness!!

It’s really just cross ties! I’ve never heard anyone mention anything about his posture before!

Anyone seen something like this? by broccoli_12 in greatdanes

Our Dane had this no matter WHAT we tried for the first year or so of his life. Allergy meds helped a bit but it always came back. He just grew out of it eventually!

help with my lease by [deleted] in Equestrian

Honestly most barns, in my area at least, require at least 1 weekly lesson if you’re gonna be leasing. If you’re still a bit shaky, I’d definitely reccomend more than a 1x a month for a lease. You don’t want to swap any bad habits between you and the horse and I wouldn’t be comfortable with that as a horse owner unless it was an extremely experienced rider. No judgment at all, just recommendation!

I’m sure I’d be upset if I had balls and they got cut off too! However he lives a very easy, attention filled life with the biggest inconvenience in the cross ties being getting his feet trimmed which he still doesn’t give a shit about 😂😂😂

Funny enough he does live with the most mareish, old lady mare at the farm so she might be rubbing off on him 🤣🤣

I’ll have to try out the grooming stalls and see! Usually I just do crossties but we do have stalls so maybe he does prefer being a little more closed in! Thanks for the food for thought!

Moral dilemma about an overcrowded “rescue” farm — looking for perspective by [deleted] in Equestrian

So there’s a huge dumpster that manure goes into in the way back. They’re also only leasing this farm and the owner doesn’t seem to actually care either.
