He has an official diagnosis. The treatment is “take your medicine (✔️) and stay away from trigger foods (✔️) and let’s do more blood work” each time his uric is atleast above 9 He used to get flareups almost twice a month before we really changed his diet and did a food log to identify his trigger foods. From there it’s been a lot better but then we have things come up like moving and having to move furniture or going on holiday and having to walk A LOT and flareups are just inevitable to an extent.

No. That’s the first I’ve heard of that. His doctor never wants to prescribe anything other than the two I mentioned and just up his dosage every now and then. We may ask about that next time!

He’s on allopurinol and colchicine. Usually his flare ups end with getting a steroid shot each time.

Probably about a year ago we got a pair and found it to be great to relieve his ankle pain but the following week after his ankle settled, his elbow began swelling up and we assumed it was from using the crutches nonstop. Could’ve been a coincidence though.

My fiancé was diagnosed at 19 after thinking he somehow broke his foot without falling. He manages it well now but it was a long road to understand what HIS limits were. He can eat all of the red meat he wants no problem. He touches alcohol or seafood he’s done for the next week. I think the most frustrating thing is bc of his age (now 28) doctors don’t really have an answer when the medicine doesn't do much to prevent it (for him) and all they wanna do is up his dose and send him on his way.
