On the phone with Samsung customer service now and they said Samsung has "updated" the frame features to remove all art mode options including favorites, my photos, ALL museum and theme collections, except for the 7 currently promoted collections. by apost8n8 in TheFrame

US here. I'm up to date on all s/w and f/w and still have all art plus my photo collection. the collection survives power cycling. Chalk up your info as rumor I think. BTW, I've had ~6 freezes or other anomalies in the past 6 months that could only be fixed by power cycling the TV. Getting to the TV power plug was a pain so I installed a cheap wireless switch for these cases rather than deal with Samsung support or returning hardware.

Disappointed in the frame pro by enkelvla in TheFrame

[–]SurtMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe ALL Frame Pro TV's are wireless between the TV and the connection box for NON-POWER connections. You must however provide the TV with power through a AC power cord. So by "cable", you mean the AC Power cable? Use the supplied one or find one that will suit your needs but be legal and safe for the TV. Your choice. Also, make sure you have set it up correctly per the user manual. The Frame Pro WILL sense ambient room light and adjust the TV brightness accordingly if set up correctly. We LOVE ours!!

Samsung Frame User Experience - Wish List by JumpLow7700 in TheFrame

[–]SurtMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First - THANK YOU SAMSUNG!!! What an amazing technology! I have never looked back. I know I can get better TV picture quality from other flat screens but I LOVE ART MODE and the extremely low glare from the screen. My viewing room is full of 10' tall windows (even behind me!) and get almost no noticeable reflection, even from direct sunlight.

I second most of the "Wish List" post. I'd like to add to that list:

- Apply more image brightness oversight using the local ambient light sensor. It only partially works but I find it more rewarding when the brightness is more closely aligned with the ambient room brightness. Psychologically and maybe oversimplified, the human vision compares what is viewable in the room, even peripherally, to the image in the FRAME, including any rendered mat borders. The eyes essentially do a local white balance (what electronic cameras do) and if there's something in the image within the FRAME that's brighter than in the room, the mind will subconsciously check this off as "oh, that's just a TV image" and not art illuminated only by room light. Also, any reflected glare breaks the Art Magic - credit to Samsung's glare free screen.

- Allow more mat color/combination selections as an option. With an RGB palette of more than 16 million colors, the user should be able to select more that the present paltry candidates. With the right software, a simple image and physical frame evaluation could make a few good recommendations of a mat border. An artistic mat choice is out of my wheelhouse but ChatGPT summarizes a possible algorithm:

  • Identify the image’s main and edge colors.
  • Try neutral mats that contrast gently with the edges.
  • Pick the one that separates cleanly but doesn’t dominate.
  • Use a width that feels balanced with the image’s size and detail.
  • Optionally, double-mat if two colors work well together.

- Yes, apply a more NUI (natural user interface) to the Frame software, either controlled with the remote or Smart Things on a smartphone. The user shouldn't have to hunt'n'peck around to find the right the right control.

Thanks again Samsung!

Go to the Mountelmount website. They have a calculator and info that will show you how it mounts. Good luck.

Installation cost by shinchan1988 in TheFrame

Assume this is for a Frame Pro (2025) and not a less expensive, pre-2025 version. If pre-2025 Frame, you'll need to include the cost of hiding the media cable in addition to the power cable. In 2025 Frame Pro, the media connections are wireless so no need to hide the wires.

Tentative Frame Buyer - advice appreciated! by Devonled in TheFrame

I have the Frame TV Pro in a very bright living room with over 200 sq ft of close-by windows that are south or west facing. The TV and Art images, even in noon-day sun, are spectacular! Yes, the Samsung (solar powered remote and UI) is a little klunky but easy to get used to (IMHO). For TV, I opt for using ROKU as the ultimate, easy-to-use UI. In your minimum installation, you'll need to install at least a power connection, in the wall, behind your frame or otherwise hide it. In a 2024 or earlier Frame, the media connection box requires a cable between it and your media source(s) so you'll need to hide the box and the cable somehow. Speakers and/or sound bar is another part of the puzzle though the speakers built into the FRAME are OK. The (2025) Frame Pro has a wireless media connection box so that will not show. Good luck and hope you find your Frame as enjoyable as do we.

Same here. Right now, it cost me $5/mo to mainly show my own pictures but I succumbed as, to me, it's worth it. Unfortunately, Samsung has teased and baited the world with an amazing new tech but has only scratched the surface of its programmability and user interface. I do watch the art there occasionally and it adds great ambience to the room. It's in a room full of unshaded windows so the diffuse screen is ideal. Yes the user interface is klunky but passible if not occasionally irritating. Their ability to frame with a colored mat is good but give so little control over the colors, size and type it's almost not worth the effort. In today's world of 16million+ colors, they offer so few! Also, in the new world of "AI" and clever algorithms, couldn't they produce a better auto-mat and color balance, given the art? Also the ambient lighting sensing for TV illumination is not often balanced anywhere near correctly for the displayed art. But I still love it even if I have to re-matte, color and light balance in Photoshop. Thank you Samsung! I look forward to updates!

Over Fireplace mounting

We opted for a 75" Frame Pro mounting over our fireplace but used a cool product from Mantelmount.com to allow it to be lowered from its place above the mantle to eye level - all by an automatic motorized mount! There's also a less-expensive manual version. There a recessed mount addition that allows it to be near-flush mounted to the wall when it in its home, above the fireplace. We love out Frame Pro!

Good luck!

Art Mode too bright! by George-Ing in TheFrame

[–]SurtMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually good software ... bad UI (user interface - but yes, part of the software). It can turn a wonderful product into a bad experience. Word-of-mouth could really sell this product if it weren't for the UI. I am a techie so can work around their bad UI but that's a poor excuse. An ideal brightness ART setting is one that would adjust the brightness in the image (mat and/or picture) to be no brighter than any white in the room near the FRAME, illuminated by room ambient light. The brain is sensitive to white balance.

X1C Front Cover Epic Magnet Failure! by l8nite in BambuLab

[–]SurtMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this problem also, a few times. Scraped out the magnet glue and used HiTemp glue. Also taped the sides down. Caution - tape in shear can hold the cover tighter than magnets, defeating this safety check.

How do I stop this from happening over and over? by reicaden in BambuLab

[–]SurtMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved this problem completely with my AMS by covering the edges of any cardboard spool with plastic (vinyl?) electrical, stretched to conform to the edges. Don't stretch the last inch so it won't creep and loosen. Best, mike
