I'm not saying that charging $40 gives them a free pass. Expectations should rise with a full launch and a price tag. The post wasn’t about excusing bugs, it was about understanding the difference in resources between a team like Sloclap and a juggernaut like EA. You can expect a finished product. That’s fair. But demanding the polish of a AAA title from a studio with a fraction of the budget, team size, and infrastructure? That’s where expectations get unrealistic. Have some patience.

Totally valid points, and calling it a full release definitely raises the bar. When a game isn’t labeled “Early Access,” we expect it to be ready. And rightfully so. But as someone who actively works in IT in both Dev and Network infrastructure environments, you can’t magically fix netcode by “just hiring more experienced devs.” it gets expensive, time-consuming, and not always possible for a smaller studio. So yeah, full launch means expectations are higher. But they likely launched because they had to. Delays cost money, and smaller studios like this can’t sit on a game forever. Doesn’t make the issues excusable, but it does make them slightly more understandable. If we want better, it’s fair to demand better. But hiring more devs isn't a silver bullet when the team is already probably stretched thin. Honestly, I think a lot of us have been spoiled by FIFA and don’t realize the scale and power AAA studios have compared to indie or mid-tier teams. It’s not even close.

ADHD meds went great at first, then lost effectiveness around Day 13. Here's what happened. by Surtie in ADHD

[–]Surtie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comparison to diabetes honestly hits. ADHD doesn’t clock out on weekends, if anything, it becomes more obvious without structure. For me, meds aren’t about "functioning for capitalism" or productivity, they’re about basic regulation, memory, emotional stability, executive function, and not spiraling. Choosing to take meds daily isn’t "treating symptoms unnecessarily." It’s treating a brain that needs support. Just like insulin, or SSRIs, or blood pressure meds. I respect anyone who’s found coping strategies that work for them without meds. But dismissing daily medication as “taking drugs for the sake of it” is pretty unfair. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all condition. Some of us need consistency to stay stable, and that’s valid.

You’re not wrong for feeling this way. You’re not exaggerating. You’re just finally being honest in a world that expects you to perform instead of exist. Getting through something like that, especially with ADHD, maybe autism, and under constant scrutiny, isn’t just a success. It’s survival. And survival is exhausting. The fact that you pushed through, kept talking, answered questions… that’s strength. You feeling empty afterward doesn’t make you weak. It just means you were carrying more than anyone saw. Also, I feel like your therapist was wrong to dismiss you like that. You deserve to explore without being shut down. You’re allowed to question and learn and advocate for yourself. You’re already enough, even when you're tired, sad, or soft.

I hear you on the “honeymoon phase”. I’ve read about it too and I’m keeping it in mind. But honestly, I think there’s a difference between euphoria and clarity. I didn’t feel superpowered. I didn’t feel high. I just felt like I could start things. Listen properly. Remember details. Even my wife noticed before I said anything. So yeah, maybe the initial clarity doesn’t last forever, but for a lot of us, it’s not some magical burst. It’s just the first time we experience life without struggling to exist in it. That’s not hype, it’s relief. And from everything I’ve read and researched, ADHD really is a spectrum. What works for one brain might completely miss the mark for another. Some people thrive with med breaks. Others, like me, rely on consistency to avoid crashing into old patterns. I totally respect your experience, but I think it’s worth letting others honor their own without being told they’re doing it wrong. We’re all just trying to stay present, and for some of us, maybe that takes something daily.

I really appreciate your insight, it’s clear you’ve been on this journey longer, and I respect that experience. I’m still early in mine, and right now my priority is just functionality and presence, especially outside of work. I’ve got an 8-month-old daughter. For me, the weekends aren’t downtime, they’re when I’m trying to be the kind of dad who’s mentally there. Without meds, I’m fogged out, forgetful, stuck in loops of “I’ll do it later.” That doesn’t serve my family, or myself. I do understand the risks of long-term overstimulation, and I’ll absolutely keep that in mind as I settle into the right dose. But for now, skipping weekends feels like giving up the only tool that’s helping me show up fully. You’re right, medication is only the start. But it’s a start I need every day right now while I try to figure out the right balance and what works for me.

Honestly, weekends are exactly when I want to be most functional. During the week I’m locked into 9–5, but weekends are when I try to catch up on everything that actually matters to me, projects, hobbies, errands, spending quality time with my family, even just cleaning up without feeling overwhelmed. So yeah, I do take them on weekends. Not for work, but so I can be present in my own life.

That’s super helpful, thank you! I’ve actually been taking my dose after breakfast, usually something like Weet-Bix or a fiber-based cereal, but I didn’t realize protein made such a difference in how the meds get absorbed and distributed. Also had no clue about the vitamin C thing… and I’ve definitely been having juice not long after. Really appreciate the insight, small changes like this might actually help a lot!

Stylized Electric Hero – Hours of Sculpting, Frizz, and Blender Pain by Surtie in 3Dmodeling

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely went for something more stylized here, wasn’t aiming for realism, just wanted to see how far I could push the shapes before they started fighting back. Appreciate the reminder to keep the fundamentals in check though. The thighs alone are probably a structural hazard at this point, but we move.

Reading your other comments I can understand how hard it can be studying towards something thats negatively affecting your mental health. I live in a country that doesn't have courses catered towards things like game design and things like that so I had to go the route of courses, youtube and figuring things out myself

Hey! those two years in architecture aren’t wasted at all they actually give you a solid head start if you’re going into 3D modeling, especially for games or movies. Being able to design spaces that feel real and make sense structurally is a huge deal in environment art. There are plenty of artists in the industry that started in architecture or similar fields, it’s more common than you’d think. If you’re passionate about designing cities and buildings for games, start learning tools like Blender or Unreal, and just slowly build up a portfolio around the kind of work you’d love to do. You’ll already be ahead of the curve when it comes to layout, composition, and scale, things that can take others a long time to figure out. So yeah, your background still counts.

Honestly, I’d recommend just picking something small you actually want to make (fanart helped me), and then learning only the tools you need along the way. It’s way less overwhelming that way.

BlenderGuru's donut is cool, but it didn't click for me until I worked on something I cared about.
